SPEAK YOUR MIND:What does All Soul's Day mean to you? A time to remember or party ?

Am pretty sure we are all looking forward to the long weekend ahead of us. It is All Soul's Day after all, a time to commemmorate the departed but in recent times, a time for celebration. Before, All Soul's Day was about going to the cemeteries and praying for our deceased loved ones; but other activities including trick or treating and partying in ghastly costumes are also being done.

For this Speak Your Mind, we ask you...

What does All Soul's Day mean to you? Is it a solemn time for remembrance or is it a time to kick back and party? Or is it a mix of both? Do you think it is ok to follow the modern Halloween and/or All Soul's Day activities?

Post your boldest opinions in this thread!

A time to remember or think about our loved ones who have passed away. A time for reflection. A time to ponder about things. Life is so short, maybe next year, ikaw naman ang paglamayan at ipagdasal pagsapit ng Nov1 at Nov2. Make the most out of life. Find your purpose.

    How about both?

Remembering your loved ones who passed, and celebrating with those who you're still with.

That one day of the year you're obliged to pay respect and prayers for you dearly departed because you don't for the rest of the year.

To pay respects for the departed.

generally to give respects to people who have passed away which has been a cycle for some people for years. The bonus thing here is families reunite in such a way they make a bonding activity whether a party or a simple eating of sorts happens..it's a good thing there's All Souls day so people can make the bond stronger and extend it beyond the years...

for me it's both... we can visit our departed loved ones in the memorial park as a sign of remembrance but we can also attend halloween party para makahalo bilo ang mga buhay pa dito sa mundo :-) it's just a matter of scheduling and time management :-)

I'll be working but definitely this is the time to remember loved ones that have died.

Personally for me, I'll be offering prayers for my mom who passed away this year, March to be exact.

for me, it's a great time to spend with my family. just as how we "celebrate" December long holidays and the so-called "holy week."

a time to sneak those food stuff e.g. candy, biko, etc, being placed on top of the tomb, by the visiting relatives
