The Ateneo team went to the competition expecting that it was going to be a purely marketing analysis and strategy contest. Little did the team know that it was more of an artistic contest. Hence, the UST won. I must admit that the Ateneo certainly is very weak when it comes to promotions and advertising. Ateneo is strong in the analytical and strategy formulation area of Marketing. I was there, and UST won by a 1.6 point advantage over the Ateneo. DLSU and UP-D also joined. I think that PANA should have made it very clear from the start that it was supposed to be an artistic contest. It seems to me, UST sent Comm Arts students, therefore, it is no wonder that they won since they are indeed very creative. Ateneo only presented a jingle for the promotions part, the rest of their presentation was focused on the marketing analysis side. UST on the other hand even had models and a lot of aesthetic effects.

Ayun, PANA gave a case with regard to formulating a marketing strategy (price, product, place, promo) on cola wars. Ateneo presented a complete marketing plan, kaso nga lang, not much perks on the creative side. UST on the other hand did not come up with their marketing mix but presented an excellent and professionally done fashion show, with the models holding the cola bottles seductively.
