Basta ang alam ko, ang life story ni Katrina Halili ang isa sa mga nakoko-consider na maging pilot episode ng Magpakailanman sa November 24.

Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, itatapat ng GMA 7 ang Magpakailanman sa Maalaala Mo Kaya ng ABS-CBN.

Hindi lang ako sure kung alin sa parte ng makulay na buhay ni Katrina ang ipapakita sa Magpakailanman.

dapat iba-iba kada buwan at dapat with matching costumes to complete the scene


JANUARY - dahil bagong taon, palakarin sya sa isang lugar na nagsasabugan mga paputok (labintador, sinturon ni hudas, dinamita etc etc) with matching fireworks sa kalangitan. costume nya baby na nakalampin to signify new year.

FEBRUARY - buwan ng mga puso. As Cupida, maglalakad-lakad sya sa Pasay na ang background ay yung mga motels like Victoria Court, Wise, King Arthur's etc etc...

MARCH - graduation month. sa gilid-gilid ng PICC sya maglalakad-lakad kung saan madalas ganapin mga graduation rites. pwede din sa mga universities like UST, Ateneo, DLSU o UP campus. naka-toga sya syempre.

APRIL - Semana Santa. palakarin sa mga holy sites. mag-ala santa-santita o di kaya April fool's day. palakarin sa mga carnival, peryahan o sa mga theme parks. obvious na dapat naka-clown costume

MAY - summertime! balik sya sa dalampasigan this time sa mga famous beaches...Boracay, Palawan, Pagudpud etc etc...pwede nya isuot ulit yung dati nyang costume. no to two-piece ha.

JUNE - weddings. palakarin sa aisle ng mga simbahan na animo'y sya ay ikakasal. with flower arrangement and everything. perfect! pwede ding Independence day special. maglakad-lakad sa mga historical places like Luneta, Leyte, Batangas etc..

JULY - festival month. SINULOG DE TANJAY, LIBON PAROY FESTIVAL, HUDYAKA FESTIVAL, SANDUGO FESTIVAL to name a few...maglakad-lakad sa mga streets habang may mga festive parades sa background with street dancing etc. mala-ati-atihan si Tita Mel dito.

AUGUST - month of calamities. palakarin sa gitna ng mga baha, unos, mas effective kung babalik sa dalampasigan to witness the tidal waves, tsunamis...no to sirena costumes. any outfit will do.

SEPTEMBER - start of BER months. simoy pasko. slight christmas spirit. pwede syang maglakad-lakad sa malls. animoy nagwiwindow-shopping.

OCTOBER - prelude to November month. since October naman ang Halloween, pwede na umpisahan dito ang horror. costumes, pumpkins, monsters, vampires, witches, werewolves, ghosts, scary tales ang peg. sa horror house muna palakarin.

NOVEMBER - palakarin sa mga sementeryo. araw ng mga patay. horror month kumbaga. costume ni Tita Mel, zombie o isang aswang.

DECEMBER - it's Christmas! pwedeng indoor ito pero di sya nakaupo. maglalakad-lakad pa din na naka Lady Santa. mas ok kung sa snow sya maglalakad-lakad.

‘Magpakailanman’ Back On TV

‘MAGPAKAILANMAN’ RETURNS: Five years after it last aired in 2007, the award-winning drama anthology series, “Magpakailanman,” which ran for another five years from 2002 to 2007, is due to make a comeback on GMA screens.

News anchor and host Mel Tiangco was beside herself with disbelief when informed that network’s entertainment division has opted to revive her program. She played it coy at first, not wanting to jump the gun on herself. She asked for a round of meetings, during which time she impressed upon her producers that she wanted a facelift, not for herself, but for the show.

“I wanted a more public-service-oriented ‘Magpakailanman,’” Mel told a small group of media persons over lunch recently. One that will stamp her own personality into the show.

Mel says she wants to be more participative this time, not just as a drama host walking on the beach as she makes her intros and extros, wearing some loose clothes that flit and flutter with the lashing breeze ruffling her long hair.

Mel is amused that with the show’s imminent comeback in November, she has to grow her hair once more. More than that aspect of hosting, however, she is excited to expand her public service advocacy through the new “Magpakailanman.”

She intends to share with the production staff the vast story resources in the vaults of Kapuso Foundation, which she heads.

“The show will go beyond telling people’s stories. It will go a step further by providing assistance to parties concerned.”

In the five years that it aired, “Magpakailanman” provided good competition to channel 2’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” resulting in a shuffling of air time for the latter. It will be interesting how, after five years of absence, “Magpakailanman” will try to recoup lost ground.

Magpakailanman returns to Philippine TV this November

GMA Network brings back the award-winning drama anthology Magpakailanman to inspire the lives of the Kapuso viewers once more. It will be hosted by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Ms. Mel Tiangco.

Magpakailanman, an original concept and creation of the GMA Entertainment TV Group, initially ran from 2002 to 2007 and has twice been awarded the Best Drama Series category at the Catholic Mass Media Awards. it also garnered the 2008 and 2009 Anak TV Seal.

Actor Noni Buencamino won the 2005 Asian TV Best Actor award and actress Sunshine Dizon won the 2004 PMPC Star Awards for TV Best Actress award for their outstanding performances in the program. During its five-year run, the program, which was a consistent top-rater, inspired the lives of many Filipinos and promoted good family values to its viewers.

Because of the growing clamor to revive the program, Magpakailanman returns to Philippine TV but with new elements such as more in-depth investigation and dramatization of real-life inspired stories. The show will bring in Mel Tiangco's broadcast journalism expertise in each story by not only presenting what happened in the story but also examine some aspects as why it can happen, how can it be prevented from happening again and what concrete moves or steps can be done for it not to occur again.

"I wanted to add some new elements into the show. I told the staff that they should put my elements, my persona in the show. I told them that they should put it into the context that I am Mel Tiangco. I am a news personality. I am a public servant...all these things should be incorporated in the show," said Mel Tiangco.

Aside from merely telling and narrating the story, Mel Tiangco will take a more participative role in making each story not only inspiring and uplifting but also informative and interesting. This will be about "the real story behind the story."

Thus, one can already perceive the new kind of stories that Magpakailanman will be delivering. Keeping the primary objective that the stories will be inspiring and should uplift the human spirit, the new stories of Magpakailanman will be provocative, exceptional, arresting and even sometimes sensational. Tiangco's spiels and interviews will serve as the thread that will bring all these elements together.

Entertainment TV's AVP for Drama Redgie Acuña-Magno says Mel Tiangco remains to be the ideal host of the well-loved drama anthology. "There is really no better person to host the show except Mel Tiangco. She is already identified with the show and the show reflects her true persona."

"Mel Tiangco is a multi-awarded journalist that delivers investigative and informative news and at the same time a woman with a soft spot and of substance that a lot of people can relate and look up to - a perfect combination for Magpakailanman's new offering," said Magno.
