from this eensy peak into neil's character dossier, im guessing dd's character here is "gabriel," and him and "ahmir" are bffs? why do i have a feeling this will be a case of the bestfriends switching identities (by accident or by agreement). maybe ahmir's not too pleased at the prospect of arranged marriage, and asked his bff to cover for him for a bit. so that nadi meets gabriel as ahmir or she'll mistake gabriel for ahmir. the unexpected (inevitable) happens, gabriel as ahmir and nadi fall in love. hence, dd in muslim garb to keep up the act of being ahmir.

and lookie, from snippets looks like they've known each other all their lives. reminds me of how binayaan breezily assumed amaya's character. bcoz she's been cooped up with her sister growing up, she managed to have an answer for whatever's thrown at her so that she makes a credible amaya. being that suzi conceptualized haram, makes sense for a similar scenario to play out.

it would be a hoooot too, to see the actors take this on. they'll play themselves first, natch, each character making a mark so that we'd be familar with gabrielisms and ahmirisms, and then have them switch up and play each other. think "here comes the bride" sans soul-switching.

I would LOVE to see that play out. So much of soap sibling rivalry is so overtly antagonistic right from the get go. I hope the brotherly love will remain written in even after Kylie's character shows up.

Dingdong Dantes‘ next TV project is with Kylie Padilla, entitled HARAM. This delves into the world of religions, specifically, the forbidden love story between a Christian man, and a Muslim woman. Since Kylie was chosen opposite Dingdong, I suspect that the age gap between the two actors factors in into the storyline, not to mention Kylie’s real Muslim background.



HARAM is a new territory on Philippine TV. I am very intrigued how GMA 7 is going to handle this as delicately and sensitively as they could. I’m also very interested how GMA will accurately portray on TV the Muslim culture and lifestyle right next to Christianity. I don’t expect a flawless production value because I’m sure there will always be some mistakes here and there. I’m sure a few people, somehow somewhere, will critique the show according to their own beliefs and knowledge on the subject matter. However, this early on, I commend GMA 7 for stepping outside the box of typical teleserye storylines. Since they successfully pulled off the first ever TV epicserye in Marian Rivera’s AMAYA, then by all means continue growing and be as innovative and thought-provoking in their future shows. Interestingly enough, the concept of HARAM came from Amaya’s brilliant creator and headwriter, Suzette Doctolero.
