-- From The Lasallian:
Sportsmanship.
During the latter part of the game, Thomas Torres did not hesitate in assisting Juami Tiongson when the Blue Eagle was down on the court, suffering from a cramp.
Despite the intense rivalry between the two schools, the values of sportsmanship and respect remain instilled in both teams. — with Rino Torres.
halatang pinalaki nang mabuti ang thomas torres ng kanyang mga magulang. he's got breeding and class, which is something i can't say of that other la salle rookie na nagbabalak na naman daw lumipat dahil hindi raw nagagamit.
hoy tallo, hindi ka pa sikat, laos ka na. bumalik ka na sa cebu at dun ka maghari-harian.
Nakakatuwa na may mga players pa na katulad niya (T.Torres).![]()
Nung pinasok si Webb at the 8:25 mark in the 4th after Keifer's and-one play, he was looking all business. Nagtututuro pa ang mama, like he was giving directions to his teammates. But inside, I bet he was thinking, "ok 7 points na ang lamang namin, baka lumaki pa. Dapat ko nang tulungan ang Ateneo manalo. Seryoso na 'to!" That's the reason for his "all business" surly look.Ayun, rumachada nga ang Blue Eagles after Webb's entry. Go Josh! The Blue and White are grateful to you!
So suspension nanaman ito ng refs dahil sa stupid calls, na para hindi halata ay papanig muna sa opposing team, tapos pag most crucial at game deciding na, e papanig na sa tunay na team nila. Very consistent over their past games.
Ang sarap manalo ng fair and honest game. Kesa sa controversial na laro magkasunod pa.
Kung ROY lang paguusapan I'd actually pick Thomas over Jeron (but both are incredible rookies). Thomas has the basketball IQ to utilize the entire team and has deadly accuracy as well.
I'm expecting a Team B player (probably Axel) and a new recruit to replace the departing Webb and Mendoza. If I were Tallo, I'd just stay with La Salle and work my way up again to earn playing time.
He was given a lot of playing time kasi nung simula but now he's just sidelined on the bench. When he was given playing time he was a bit trigger happy but he didn't make most of his shots. I'm just guessing that he has yet to adapt to college basketball. HS basketball is different. Nadadaan mo yan sa brute force like Joshua Webb during his time at DLSZ.
I likewise think Tallo should have stayed with Ateneo. He would benefit from the restructuring next season especially if Bo Perasol gets the coaching job given Bo's coaching style. It would seem that DLSU is focusing on developing bigmen and further fortifying their defensive skills.
I agree that DLSU will be a title contender for next season. Teng and Tallo has nowhere to go but up and Danding will make sure that the two new additions to the team will be just as good as T&T.
Watching the game online right now and yes, I think Jeron was fouled on the last play but still, congrats to Ateneo. Kiefer played like a boss.
May the best team win![]()
Someone brought up the old man...he was happy and he couldn't complain about his team's future. From walang hinaharap last year to bright and prospective this year and the next. Specially with the mercenary (his word not mine) gone. But how many points did the Slaughter score here? Yeah, Ateneo is indeed a Greg Slaughter team lol. As usual, at the end of the day, no credit or nary an acknowledgement to Ateneo lol (sounds familiar? speaking of the devil, his real team is now gone for the season). But coming from a man who said Kiefer was hype, Salva was bust, and Joshua Webb was La Salle's future, yeah, I'd be happy too with DLSU prospect in the future (happy for Ateneo lol), specially with this old man's blessing and basbas. hehe
"Put it on record, we will beat Ateneo in the second round" (his words, not mine). Again, he didn't say which season.
Peace sober Archers! OBF!
I didn't get to watch the 2nd half. What's the link? I thought Ateneo would just coast away for a win after the 1st half so I turned off the TV. Naglead pa pala ng 11 points ang DLSU.
The finals will be a toss-up between Ateneo and UST. UST is unpredictable in their plays. They can play physical to take away your game. What is alarming is that Slaughter has been off offensively lately. To beat ADMU, UST must click from outside because ADMU is good defending the inside. My take is that if UST is leading after 3 quarters, they most likely win the game.
Even Ateneans admit that it was a foul that was not called. But the question is, what about Ravena's "unsportmanlike foul"? Without that call, the Teng-Buenafe non-call might not have happened because it would be ADMU's ball. IMHO, both teams got stupid call/non-call from the refs, it's just that, Teng wasn't able to sink both charities.
But the thing that I hate most was the review of Ravena's 3-pt shot/s. It may be a legal move on the part of DLSU, but I think, it's unethical (it became a pseudo timeout). I don't think that the DLSU bench really wanted a review of that shot, they just wanted a "freebie" timeout. In case of a review, the players of both side shouldn't approach their respective benches and coaches should refrain from giving instructions to their players.
yes, there was incidental contact, but the refs will not call a foul on buenafe on that play in the same way they didn't whistle a foul on andrada when the latter hammered oping sumalinog flush in the nose earlier in the second quarter. and what about all the pushing, shoving, armlocking, and scratching greg slaughter had to endure all game long that the refs allowed? semis na ito, wala nang baklang tawagan.
Reasons why LaSalle lost:
1. Turnovers
2. Early Celebration after N. torres' block
3. Webb's participated in the game.
4. Coach Gee didn't call a timeout when his team is losing its grip on the lead.
5. Only called the timeout when they are already down by 3.
6. No AVO dunk yesterday. It always means one thing: a LaSalle lost.
