oo naman. basically, you don't even need to study for the tests. they just require stock knowledge. here's what i remember from both tests:

acet - abstract reasoning was hell. that's all i can say about that part of the test. english was pretty easy - fairly similar to the iq tests that my high school used to administer every single freakin year. it had sentence construction, arranging paragraphs, vocab, the usual stuff. the math part was pretty hard. when i took the test, i knew next to nothing about conic sections and trigo functions tapos yun pa yung lumabas! bwishit talaga! i must have left about 20-25 numbers blank. yan ang wag mong gagawin. it's not a right-minus-wrong test naman so take a chance. stupid lang talaga ako nung test day kaya i forgot to about that. i think b or c yung magic letter. there's this 15-item general info test that's really easy. yun yung favorite part ko. "where is silicon valley located? a) alabama b) utah c) california d) texas" or something like that... madali right?

dlsu test - this was the easiest test i took but it was the most tiring. i don't even remember why. basta what i remember is, after the test my friends and i were saying na we had major headaches and we felt so sleepy and lethargic. it's a looooong test. we started at 2pm (kala ko 2:30... muntikan pa ako ma-late! hehehe) and we left at 6:30. maaga pa yung room ko sa lagay na yon! it had science, math, and english sections. i can't remember it there were more. the science part was so-so --> easier than the UPCAT's science section but still forces you to think. actually, mahina lang talaga ako sa science. the math part was incredibly easy. a high school freshman could probably answer it. i'm not exaggerating - it's that easy. english - easy rin. typical iq test-type of questions. you have to write an essay in english and in filipino - you're only given 10 minutes for each. iba-iba yung topic per room (or is it per day). mine was "dapat bang payagan bumoto ang mga ofws?" i forgot my english essay topic but my friend's was "if you had a friend who passed u.p., ateneo, and dlsu, where would you advise him/her to go?" or something like that... i heard they ask that question or a variation of it every year. alam mo naman kung anong dapat sagot mo, right? hehehe

syempre, pwede ka pa rin pumasa but it will help if you'll scan through your past notes. Just relax and enjoy while taking the test. GOOD LUCK!

good thing FOR ME (as said by my teaCHER), swerte ko kahit yung 3days before the exam (sept 12-14) e retreat namin.. at least refreshed ko... *** lang **** baka di ko maiwasan ang magdala ng konting reviewer dun... my big problem siguro is math and english... kasi math, ngayon palang kami nagccmula sa circles... let me recall mga diniscuss namin: verbal problems- age, distance, work etc. then, mga radicals, tapos yung about slopes, about x & y intercept... postulates and theorem... basta yung mga makikita mo sa 2nd year book...

pero galing mo a nakpasa ka sa 3... honestly, pinakamahihirapan ko jan yung sa double analogy... sa isahan nga e nangangamote na ko... kasi gawa minsan and hrap o uncommon nung words... pero i wonder kung bakit may bumabagsak pa rin sa la salle kung madali... like yung salutatorian namin last year.. he passed admu and up pero di sa la salle...

Get a map of the testing venue and know exactly how to get to your room.

that's good advice, oscar. i still have a vivid memories of running around the UP campus asking everyone in sight where the home ec building was

you CAN opt to take those review classes, but i really don't know how effective they are you can also buy those MSA reviewers and answer them on your own. but don't study on the night before the exam, get a good's night's sleep. cramming will only make things worse coz you'll be tired the next day and you won't be able to think clearly.

if you haven't reviewed, you still have a good chance of passing if you have a good grasp of your high school math & english.

It's in California.

Actually, I'm not exactly sure kung ano yung basis ng admissions officers. I have classmates who didn't pass Ateneo and UP but exagge sila sa talino. We were thinking na yung sa Ateneo, siguro it was because non-Catholic sila (pero huwag naman sana) but we couldn't think of a reason why they didn't pass UP.

La Salle... almost everyone who took the test from my school passed. . Wala namang surprising results sa test na 'yon. But I do know some people from other schools who didn't pass DLSU but passed Ateneo and UP. Weird na talaga yung mga ganon.

Good luck!

totoo lang... i think that the review programs for entrance exams are just a waste of time and money. the truth of the matter is, entrance exams are supposed to test you on how much you've learned so far.... hindi ba parang daya yun? i mean, it is so ok to browse or read through the stuff you've previopusly studied... then again... the opinion of others still remain...

i've never gone to any review program... it takes a lot of hard work to pass the dream school in the future....

im not that smart either, im just normal...

about the review classes, i never took them either. but i guess one advantage of taking them is that you'll get to realize your weak areas (for example, english grammar) and you can browse through your past lessons to improve yourself in these areas.
