Red face Yukata/kimono owners (for women and men) please post here

    Hello traditional Japanese clothing owners!
(Hi admin, if there's a similar thread, you may want to direct me there and close this thread )

I made this thread because it's so hard to find traditional Japanese clothing owners here in the Philippines. You might as well share some of your tips for the following:

    1) Where to buy your yukata, kimono, jinbei, hakama etc.?
    2) What to consider in buying one?
    3) Approximate cost of a Japanese traditional clothing set?
    4) Tips in wearing and caring for your apparel?
    5) Events that you can go to wearing a yukata?
    6) Pictures (links preferably)!!

    Thanksies!

    1) I bought mine on ebay.ph. the search result only gave three items so I choose the best one. It's really hard to find an online seller for these! But last year I went to Japanese grocery and I saw they're selling yukatas and getas there!! Obi, tabi and koshihimo, geta are also sold.

    2) Your color choice should reflect your age. Younger ones wear brighter colors and prints, and older wears paler hues. Yukatas/kimonos are most likely free-sized. If it's too big, you can fold it to your waist (covered by obi)

    3) I got a set for 2,800 (shipping included). This consists of yukata, tsukuri obi (pretied bow), koshi himo, zori and bag. I bought a juuban and haneri from another seller which costs 1,000. My accessories are also another story which I bought for 300 for four pieces hair clip. But if I'll buy at the Japanese store I mentioned earlier yukata, obi, geta and koshi himo alone will cost me 3,000

    4) I haven't wore it yet but I read that you must handwash it and fold it properly. Some yukatas are dyed so you may want to keep it wrapped in paper and box.

    5 and 6) none yet!!
