A group of peace advocates has called for a ceasefire in Maguindanao to allow internally-displaced families to return home.
The Mindanao Peoplesí Peace Movement (MPPM) urged both the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM) to uphold civilian supremacy and human rights in times of conflict.
The MPPM called for the immediate pull-out of both government troops and rebels from the affected civilian communities, and urged the BIFM to hold their ranks and to communicate their political demands in an open manner that involves dialogue to avoid bloodshed and violence.
