Furthermore, the comments seem to suggest that the causes for what's happening are not demographics, but overall government policy (from monetary policy to welfare). They even cite the example of Ireland which has the highest birth rate in 20 years, and yet is also a failed economy. And really, as one poster commented, "You want unemployed people, in the middle of an economic crisis, having trouble looking after themselves – to now go out and have more children?"
