Several books have already been written about the story of the EDSA People Power Revolution of 1986. From acclaimed literary figures to scholars, law and public officials, historians—the list of writers is long as concerned Filipinos and foreigners will always have something to say about an unprecedented event that drew attention of the world to the Philippines. It was a shining moment that the Filipinos will always be proud of.

The almost bloodless revolt culminated on February 25, 1986 with the departure of a dictator, President Ferdinand Marcos, and the ascent of a new one, President Corazon Aquino, making her an icon of democracy.

Silver Linings: 25 Years of the EDSA People Power Revolution, launched last May 16, 2012 at the Camp Aguinaldo AFP Theater, recounts the heroic military defection of then Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and Armed Forces Vice Chief of Staff Fidel V. Ramos, along with the Special Action Force (SAF) which Ramos has co-founded with Gen. Renato S. de Villa. It was the beginning of a journey to be long remembered.

Many more stories about the EDSA Revolution have not been told and remain a mystery to even those who played a part, big or small, in the historic event.

The book puts together valuable, never-before published accounts from the surviving members of SAF, weaved together from the main points of view of co-authors Gen. Reynaldo Velasco (ret.), the SAF commander himself, former DILG Secretary and honorary SAF member Rafael M. Alunan III, and veteran author and biographer of the Ramoses, Melandrew T. Velasco.

Silver Linings is a definitive book on the quest for good governance, the heroic story of the uniformed men and women who staked their lives for democracy. Above all, it is a story of hope exuded more than 25 years ago at the 1986 EDSA People Power - hope for a better and brighter future for the Philippines.
