Good luck to all the barristers who are taking the bar this whole month of October!

So how was Consti and Labor?

Oops, this month is September nga pala.

Doc Ira, what do you think of the saying that the Bar Examinations is the most difficult professional test in the Philippines?

Actually, I think the only way to find out for sure is to take both. I don't really want to find out for myself.

The Bar in the US is supposedly a lot easier than the bar in RP daw. You don't even have to be an American citizen to take it.

consti was quite easy. mostly cases, maybe one or two questions on principles. my friend finished at 10:35am.

labor's another thing. every bar candidate i met said that not only was it long, but it was procedural.

Yeah, I heard. Hmm... maybe the Supreme Court wants to see how we can make sense of the whole mess that they themselves made in the first place. You know, the problem with Labor is, it can be as easy or as difficult as the teacher wants it to be. Sigh.

Eponine07, are you a head in a bar subject sa bar ops?

they say that the labor exams were made difficult because the examinees always found that part of the bar easy.

to answer your question, sedfrey, no, i am not. i helped out in the crim and civil subjects, typing out the last minute lectures and assembling the reviewers a couple of months ago.

hi eponine07,

you know, I was actually expecting that political law would be more difficult, especially with all the new things that are happening that are related to consti.

It's a good thing someone told me that there was a query in this thread addressed to me. Kasi naman bakit dito pa tinanong!

Regarding the bar exams being the most difficult PRC-administered test, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. I personally found the physicians' board exams pretty manageable (of course, it's assumed that one has already prepared well for it), and I assume a lot of other physicians felt likewise. I was able to get my hands on all the board exams given 7 years prior to my taking it, and they were in the same level of difficulty. With the boards, if you study properly, it's almost impossible to flunk it. I don't think it's the same case with the bar? But hey, I'll probably know soon. A doctor friend of mine quit ER medicine and enrolled in UP Law--he's taking his bar exams either this year or the next. Maybe he'll tell me which was harder for him. He'll probably also say the bar exams was harder.

hi doc ira!

thanks for the reply! I think the additional thing that makes the bar more difficult is the subjective aspect of the checking of the exam. For instance, in medtech or medical board exams, you have mostly multiple choice questions. In the bar, it's all essay. So if the examiner doesn't like your penmanship or doesn't like the way you arranged your sentence or didn't understand a word, he could mark it wrong or not give full points.

sabi daw, there are moves to make the bar exam multiple choice. what do you think of this eponine07? sux2bu, are you a law student also?

so, any tips for our barristers in civil law and tax law?

good luck to all the ateneo barristers!

atty. robles who teaches property says, there's always something about a builder/planter/sower who builds/plants/sows on land that he does not own.

eponine07, was russell from Ateneo Loyola? Atty. Robles says that one of his bar bets is a UP valedictorian who got his undergrad from Loyola.

Rule 138 (yata) of the Rules of Court say, the results should be out by Feb. 30 the latest. Pero last year, it came out around May na yata. Eenie, are you a barrister?

i heard that next year's examiner is justice mendoza. our teachers have been telling this year's graduating class that if we can help it, wag daw muna kami mag-take ng exam next year.

oh, no.

i have a friend. he's a doctor and a lawyer (one of only three i've heard in the phils). he said when it comes to academics, med proper is tougher by several exponents. when it comes to the board/bar exams, the med test is still tougher but the bar exam can give you a good scare.

those were his words.
