Me thinks this would be a close match.

    My gut feel for UST,
    1. Abdul would likely have a hard time against DLSU's Big men.
    2. but Mariano would have a breakout game, tall but quick with an outside shooting touch. He may create matchup problems.
DLSU would have a hard time guarding him, same way that UST would have a difficult time chasing LA Revilla.
    3. UST may play physical on Revilla...
    4. Kevin Ferrer can have a good game as well.
    5. Jeron has that strong first step with that common rookie aggressiveness. If UST can anticipate his moves, his momentum can commit him to make turnovers.
Interesting game... sana maka upset ulit UST.

I'm for DLSU on this one.

La Salle and UST are on equal terms with their starting five, but La Salle's bench is deeper. I think stopping the shooters of UST won't be such a difficult feat for La Salle, having shown that they can defend well even against the big men of Ateneo.

UST: Actually needs to focus on Norbert. With La Salle's height advantage, expect the coaching staff to heavily capitalize on this.

DLSU: Focus on Teng and Fortuna. With the height advantage, UST will most likely capitalize on its wingmen instead of playing inside. While Tallo might not have scored a lot of points in the previous games, he should be more than capable to harass the UST wingmen.

Teng Brothers to Clash on the Court

Teng Brothers to Clash on the Court

The sons of the legendary PBA All-Star forward, Alvin "the Robocop" Teng will face-off for the first time this Saturday, August 4 as the DLSU Green Archers duke it out against the UST Growling Tigers in UAAP Season 75.

This long awaited game will feature a battle against brothers, Jeric Teng of the UST Growling Tigers and Jeron Teng of the DLSU Green Archers.

Jeric Teng, the starting small forward of UST and their leading scorer is highly anticipating this match against his younger brother, "Exited ako dahil first time namin magka-match-up. Bahala na si coach kung mag-babantayan kami,"(said Jeric in an interview after his team's come from behind victory last July 19 against the Ateneo Blue Eagles, his brother's teams sworn rival)s. UST's # 16 and team leader is looking to carry on their momentum after winning their last two games, the last one against NU with a score of 77-71 last august 28.

Not to be out done or intimidated, younger brother Jeron is ready for the match-up. In fact, Jeron's been ready since high school. His claim to fame came when he beat his brother's high school career-high scoring record (55 pts) and almost doubling it, scoring 104 points for Xavier's Golden Stallions.

Now, Jeron is DLSU's rookie and small forward. In the latest poll for best new comers in the UAAP Season 75, he's in the lead shadowing all his rookie competitors. “On the court, we don’t think we’re brothers anymore. We just have to win for our teams,” said Jeron, 18, La Salle’s rookie, “Hindi kami magpapatalo sa isa’t isa” Jeron added.

Both are known to be offensive threats, appointed to provide scoring for their respective teams but Jeric and Jeron also take pride in defense like their father who was the defensive player of the year back in 1993 in the PBA. Both provide a leadership role, even Jeron, who's 18 and a rookie. Both are ball-hogs. Both have a scorer's mentality. Both have many similarities as basketball players but the thing they have most in common is that they both hate losing. Basketball is in their veins being sons of one of Philippines greatest (power) forwards, San Miguel Beer Ace Star, Alvin Teng.

The UST Growling Tigers and the DLSU Green Archers will meet twice in the double-round eliminations. There’s a great chance both squads will face again in the playoffs- that being both teams are likely contenders(favorites to win) after teams like ADMU and FEU. Expect fireworks in what looks like a very interesting game that may ignite a DLSU-UST rivalry in the UAAP.

When asked how they are similar as basketball players, "We both hate losing", said Jeron and Jeric.

Damn, if we can beat DLSU today, we can possibly end up #1 or #2 by the end of the 1st round. Go USTe!

  21. #40
    I hope so. Go USTe!
