I haven't had the chance to drive a shortage yet but be of my sisters swears by her Tucsons. She has both the first generation and the new one and she loves them both. I'll ask her about the fuel consumption.

Ok, my sister says she usually gets about 7-8 / litre on her new one and about 8-9 on her older model. I don't know why the older model is a miser but I know that her Tucsons are very well-maintained. Oil is changed every 5000km or 3 months whichever comes first.
