My immigration VISA as PR to Australia has just been recently granted, what's next?

    Hello everyone,

I am the principal applicant to the VISA subclass 175 in Australia and together with my husband and 2 kids aged 3 and 5, we're planning to leave for Australia by January or February 2013.

As of now, I do not know what my next moves should be but I have been browsing the immi.gov.au for things to do upon arrival in AU, talking with my tita in AU Sydney via email and a friend who had just settled last April 2012 in Au.

Right now we're taking driving lessons, my husband and I, because my tita says it's difficult to secure a license in Au plus it's expensive. My first question is, do we have to have a PROFESSIONAL license or a NON-PRO would be recognised just as good?

Moreover, I wish to hear from people who had experienced being new to a country. I know how difficult it is especially since we have 2 very young kids. I hope you could share some tips on what's supposed to be our next steps. From securing funds for the ticket (like the price range of a one-way fare), where to settle best (my friend recommends Blacktown Sydney), and whatever you think we should be preparing for by now.

I'd really appreciate your helpful tips. I hope this thread would be able to help those who undergo similar position with me right now.

    Thanks!

Get a PH professional license..para pag dating nyo dito
sa AUS..straight to Full license kaagad kayo after
passing the driving test, but atleast mag driving
lesson muna kayo for familiarization kasi RHD dito

Blacktown is the Phil of Australia...only advatage is cheap ang rent
    disadvatage- madaming pinoy lol

    BTW Congrats!!

start applying as well and check your market value. pati na din sa asawa mo hehe each state has its own job demand so check if you both are in demand in the state you want to go to. Anticipate nyo na din *** mga fees like school, after school care, rent, etc para ma manage nyo finance nyo mabuti pag dating dito

Also, try to get an international license instead in the Phil para convert na lang pag dating sa AU.

Air Asia is havinga piso sale starting today for Clark to Sydney via KL for only PHP4K +++ one way, travel date is form July to October. If you still don't have ticktes, this the best time to buy.

Thanks for this info virstud, pero baka kasi January or February pa kami umalis. So disqualified na kami sa travel date. But I will check out that site from time to time from here on. Thanks!

    Sang state kyo?

Yes I'll do that, budgeting. And I'll start applying online as well although Jan or Feb next year pa naman plan namin to fly. Which leads me to the next question, do we still have time to secure the international license? And with the financial constraints at present, magkano kaya ang application nun if you have any idea. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks sa reply. Wala pang work, so dun pa lang din kami maghahanap or maybe I'll try online. Ang sabi pa, mahirap daw makahanap agad because they'll be looking for local experience.

If I will get a prof license, it will take us 5 months pa. Kasi ang sabi samen dito, we'll have to wait 5 months after release of non-pro pa to apply for a pro licence. Do you think it will it be honored by AU considering that when we get there, baka 1 month pa lang *** licence samin?

Is the rent estimate accurate, $350/week?

    Thanks so much!

No idea on how much it cost but I'm not sure having a pro license from the Phil will not matter when getting a license here as Phil is RHD while here it is LHD.

I'm in Brisbane but just moved here last year.

Hmm.. go to realestate.com.au or domain.com.au to check for price of rental. Factor in as well the commute cost but basically, cost of rent goes down as you go farther from the CBD. You can opt for room share or house sharing as some people do that.

Regarding the job, yes they value more local AU experience hence its good that you apply early just check payscale for range of the pay for your occupation for your reference.

^ here in sydney PRO license matters....pag non-pro ka lang..you cant get straight to Full license ..imho mas mabuti na *** full license kesa dumaan ka ng P(Provisional)

and btw..money and connection lang ang kailangan mo dyan sa PH to get a Pro license, you dont need to wait for 5 months..lol..cmon nasa PH ka....lol

<<< you can still get a license dito sa Sydney even you are holding a Non-Pro PH
license..pero P(provisional) license lang...but kung PH PRo ang hawak mo...you
can go straight to Full Licence after passing the actual driving test, and get
an LTO certificate stating that 5 yrs ka na nagddrive

Is the rent estimate accurate, $350/week?

I will personally leave the kids with relatives in the Philippines until at least one of you get a permanent job there. Mahirap ang adjustment period pero well worth the financial freedom and peace of mind na unfortunately, mahirap ma-attain sa Pinas.

  12. #12
I'm considering your suggestion gravely. However, wouldn't it be too costly with the fare? We'll get a ticket thrice as many, kasi we have to go back to PH then back again to OZ.

    Thanks for the well wishes!

In case we're able to get a Provisional licence, what's the difference with a Full licence? My actual problem is, I have never handled a car and this is my first time to drive. I'm scared of the things I've been hearing about learning how to drive in Au cause it's very strict they say... Basically that's my problem. I wish to skip the practical test at least.

Wow! Mas malaki pa pala... Pero kaya naman ba yun ng salary, say what if I'll be earning the minimum rate?

Thanks for the websites, I'll check that out later. What's CBD by the way?

Where do I check the payscale? I'm really sorry, I have zero idea about these things...

    Thanks for the info!

CBD - Central business district.. parang makati or ortigas hehe the farther you are away from the CBD, mas mura ang apartment usually.

payscale *** website to check salary of your profession given a country and minsan pati company din. You can use glassdoor din na website. Google mo lang and lalabas naman mga un so may gauge ka kung ano maging worth mo dito..

and yes, as someone said mas ok kung d nyo pa dala mga kids nyo in a cost perspective kung wala pa kayo work both o d pa kayo stable dito financially. So take that into consideration na din.

THANKS VERY MUCH! Your infos have been very helpful already. At least we're starting to have an idea on what we're facing.

Grabe ang laki pala ng daycare fees. 1k!

I really don't owe you an explanation. Maybe you need a little bit of reading around first then some bit of re-thinking or get some relevant pieces of advice from PEx admin before you make your posts. To reiterate:

Three questions to ask yourself before posting:
o Is what I have to say on-topic?
o Will my post have proper grammar, spelling and capitalization?
o Will my post add anything significant to the discussion?
If you answered YES to these questions, then post away!

I think I did mention in my original thread that I wished to hear some helpful tips. I understand there really are generous people who are willing to help others who are in need and I can't get over being thankful to them. However, some people must be facing some issues with themselves and they can't help but be nasty and sarcastic. If my question is not of interest to you, you can go ahead and choose other topics where your comment will be of value. I'm sorry to say but your post is junk. No use being sarcastic really.

your PH license is just a reference but you dont need to present it in aus when getting a license... if you dont know how to drive, better not to take lessons here but instead, wait for the right time to get your license there..
