I don't think they care much about the words. As long as you express yourself well and you don't use inappropriate (slang) words and you use proper grammar, it's fine. They look at the content more than anything.

Yes, you don't need to sprinkle flowery words in your essay. Avoid slang as much as possible. You just need to give them what you think and what you think they want to hear. Communicate your points effectively and impressing the Decisions Committee will be easy peezy. Good luck! :>

To shogokawada just focus on the content of your essay. Make it good enough to impress. You don't need to overly use difficult words, and like the others said, avoid slang. Simple words are enough as long as it gets your point across.

To be honest I can't even remember what my essay was about lol. But I know it wasn't about something intellectual.

Just focus on the content. You have to impress the readers, the Ateneo OAA (Office of Admission and Aid) as well as the chair of the department that houses the program of your choice. You may also include your personal qualities, edge and reasons why they should accept you. I suggest you to use English language as the standard language for admission purposes.

Also include the reasons why did you choose Ateneo among others and that you only applied/ will only apply in Ateneo. As far as I remember when I had mine, I've also included some family financial background and members of the family who were atenean and luckily I made it + passed the 2008 ACET.

Tama Tip mo Sir. But part lang yan talaga kung bakit may letter. Criterias. isipin mo kung bakit may ganyang letter. Content ng sinasabi mo. Depth. Pag gawa mo ng letter/ structure, grammar blah blah blah. Nothing else to say.

just write an essay with perfect grammar. i was accepted (BS Health Science pa!) even though i explicitly said that ADMU wasn't my first or second choice, both in the essay and on the app form. Plus i didn't have time to reflect on my life because i was on a 2-hour deadline (the guidance counselor was going to submit it by noon). pero if you don't think you're smart enough, then raving about how much better the school is compared to others would help. good thing i was accepted at UPD, otherwise i would have to contend with the ADMU lifestyle. thank god.
