Poll: Matalino or bobo? Bagsak sa UPCAT, graduate ng UST and CPA

Pag ang isang tao nag fail sa UP entrance exam, nag aral ng BS accountancy sa UST, pumasa sa CPA board exam ng first take although 19 % lang ang passing rate at the time at tinawagan ng SGV para mag kumuha ng entrance exam, bobo ba siya or matalino?

Naisip ko baka bobo dahil bagsak sa UP entrance exam.

    Madiskarte sya.

If he graduated with a degree in BSA from UST, chances are he'll earn more than what most UP Ateneo and La Salle graduates are earning. The fact that he passed the CPA board exam is already a feat by itself.

It's not the school that's important but it's actually the course. An accountancy graduate from a second tier college would probably have more job opportunities than a liberal arts major from a first tier school.

parang contradicting.. parang matapos mong i-underestimate ang earning potential ng mga taga-UP, Ateneo at Lasalle as compared to a BSA grad from UST, bigla mong sasabihing wala sa school yun..

I concur, the course one is in determines his or hers earning potential. im a liberal arts grad from a univ here in manila and my girl is an archi grad (with license) from a state u in our province and she earns more than i hehehehe...

yeah.. true.. but i think the thread is about being matalino or bobo..

so i'll just say that, not passing UPCAT doesn't make you bobo, and graduating from UST and passing CPA board exam doesn't make you matalino.. or maybe it does.. afterall, being matalino or bobo is relative.. so, a UST BSA grad and CPA board passer should be compared a UP BSBAA grad and CPA board passer, and not to a UP liberal arts grad..

I may have to explain my position clearer.

It's the industry that would largely determine whether or not you'll earn a lot in a given profession. The two most lucrative professions are Accounting and IT. Local demand is high and its easy to go abroad as well.

I never underestimated the earning capacity of the three schools, but I am emphasizing the lucrativeness of the accounting profession.

yeah, i thought so.. it's just that in your other statement, you only mentioned the three schools, as if forgetting that they also offer the same course.. and other courses with earning potential higher than that of accountancy..

UST is a first tier college.

Never said that UST is a second tier college. The second sentence is couched in a general sense. A lot of UST CPAs are actually recruited by big audit firms.

No single university has the monopoly of intelligence and intelligent students. And not being able to pass an entrance exam from a particular school makes one "bobo," as the TS would like to call it. Just look around, especially in the workplace, hindi lahat ng matatalino eh galing ng UP, although madami talagang matatalinong graduate ng UP. Example na lang yung anak ni Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, I believe she flunked the UPCAT but still found a way to get into UP and graduate with honors. Now would you call the kid "bobo" for not passing the UPCAT after all her achievements as a student in UP? Think about it.

  17. #17
parang you're implying na mga nagaaral lang sa UP ang matalino. Remember, hindi grades or upcat ang basehan g katalinuhan. Kung minsan, mas umaasenso pa taong madiskarte kesa matalino

Tsk tsk...labels...Do you actually go around labeling people as "matalino" or "bobo" as you meet them? Who gives a f*** anyway? And even if you do, remember that UPCAT is an aptitude test and not an intelligence test. Yes, there is a huge difference.

Kaya mo yan!

UPCAT does not measure musical aptitude.

Failing the UPCAT simply means that there was a good number of high school seniors smarter than you are so live with it. For all intents and purposes, UPCAT is a national ranking exam of high school seniors and is not an accurate metric of how much or how little gray matter there is between your ears.
