SPEAK YOUR MIND:With all the accidents lately, what do you suggest to the government?

It was quite rainy last week and along with the rain is a couple road accidents. The LTFRB already implemented the fixed salary scheme for bus drivers but not everyone wants to participate.

With these in mind, we ask you...

Withe all the accidents lately, what do you suggest to the government?

Your opinions count! Post your ideas in this thread!

Becoming a good leader starts with being a good follower. The government must set a good example, paano sila susundin kung sila mismo ang di sumusunod sa batas?

It's sad to see na sa tuwing may aksidente or tragedy doon lang kumikilos ang government lalo na kapag sensationalized nang media.

    Implement/enforce the rules strictly.
Do studies, analyze different scenarios and create countermeasures to avoid accidents in the future.

Pero, hindi lang dapat Gobyerno ang dapat kumilos pati na ang mga mamamayan.

"Self Discipline is the best way to curb or avoid accidents."

I suggest strict implementation of existing traffic laws.

Let's have the 'point system' for every traffic violation like in the developed world. When the maximum limit is reached, suspend the license for at least 6 months. That should ease the traffic.

    Minimum fine should be 1,500php

I can't agree more with the others here: strict implementation of traffic laws really counts. But it's not the be-all to end all traffic problems. There must also be an overhaul of urban planning, which will improve how roads are built and maintained (a modern version of the Burnham Plan must be implemented); and improvement of mass transport systems must be enacted (buses and jeepneys must scrap the boundary system and instead follow a train-based approach).

you make it hurt in the pocket of the owners of the buses. buses in phls are like a run away train and many peoples lives are jeoperdized at the hands of s p300 per day drivers. current fines do nothing to solve the problems, but fines that hurt will. in the end, fines to include jail term for bus owners. you do this, and soon things will change until the under the table greeze goes into effect.

    @gipi

Yeah, I can feel that whenever I ride the busses. Sometimes sobrang grabe sila magpatakbo on slippery roads.

    Start with ourselves.

If we are commuters. Be vigilant. Walk in pedestrian lanes. Wait for your ride in designated areas. Call the attention of your driver if he's driving recklessly.

If we drive. Be courteous. Give way. Even when others don't. You cant expect everyone to be like you. Hopefully, the nice gesture you gave someone today will multiply towards others.

For the government. Since they plan to spend an unprecedented budget for infrastructure, my suggestion is to encourage development of infrastructure that will encourage people to live outside Metro Manila and develop other livelihood in its fringe. The government could start with a follow-thru of the previous administration's intent to run PNR and the revival of the North Rail Project-concept. Next is to build alternative roads other than the existing tollways that lead us in and out of Metro Manila. Then, hopefully, the PPP projects can now finally move. SLEX-NLEX connector, Daang Hari-Slex connector, Slex-Lucena extension, etc.

Tanggalin muna lahat ng colorums at mga delapidated buses and jeeps laking ginhawa agad. Then before you can instill discipline sa motorist, sa MMDA enforcers muna tapos susunod na lahat.

  12. #12
Enforce traffic rules and regulations first like apprehending colorums, stopping in the designated stops, jaywalking, etc. Only then can the real traffic problems be isolated, identified and addressed.

    Lto's staggering corruption

the safety nets are all in place yet accidents persists. the answer lies in shaping up LTO.
    smoke belching nakakalusot sa lagay.
road unworthy vehicles nakakalusot sa lagay.
incompetent drivers nakakalusot dahil binibigyan ng kodigo.
just think about how many drivers who lack the skills and, equally important, road courtesy (supposed to be advocated by LTO) kills on the road. for not knowing the lanes & road signs they make driving mistakes. and so, lives perish due to their ignorance or plain egotistic macho bravado.
mga sasakyan na walang ilaw hinahayaan makapagmaneho sa kalsada, mga motorized sidecars & motorcycles pinapayagan magcounter-flow and sumampa sa sidewalk to avoid traffic.
for LTO's shortcomings LTFRB gets to be blamed. but not as if LTFRB is run by saints, they too have their corruption problems, saan ba wala?

not really, nasanay lang ang pinoy maging rule breakers dahil nag namumuno after marcos time walang disiplina themselves. during marcos' time filipinos are very disciplined even before martial law. kung kaya dati walang reason para hindi magawa ngayon.

i saw a thread here as well that mentions there are 12,000 buses approved to run on a highway that's suppose to support only 1,600 buses. if that is true then the only question is... are filipinos brave enough enforce the cancellation of 10,000+ buses from service? or maawa nanaman sila sa 10,000 mahigit na katao na mawawalan ng trabaho para lang maluwagan/maginhawaan ang mahigit12,000,000 na gumagamit ng kalsada... not to mention mababawasan aksidente dahil pag binawasan mo ang sasakyan sa kalye... mababawasan din ang pagkakataon na magkaaksidente.

Filipino mentality: keep the 10,000 employed and the hell with the 12,000,000 and their traffic sufferings.
