is it a bad idea of the MMDA to have these buses not passing through flyovers and underpasses? as what I have heard, traffic is terrible when this is implemented.

do we need to have a separate thread dedicated to MMDA?

Take videos of speeding drivers, MMDA urges commuters

In the wake of bus accidents in Metro Manila in past days, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is encouraging commuters to use their mobile phone cameras to take videos of speeding public utility drivers.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said such videos can be submitted to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board as evidence.

“Mas maganda may video evidence tayo at mas madaling ibahagi ito sa LTFRB,” Tolentino said in an interview on dzBB radio Sunday.

But he also urged commuters to get other details of the offending public utility vehicle, be it a bus or a passenger jeep—such as plate number and route.

Last Wednesday, a Don Mariano Transit bus crashed at a flyover along the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) Ortigas area, injuring eight people and snarling traffic.

On Sunday, a bus figured in a three-vehicle smashup at EDSA in Mandaluyong City, killing at least two people.

The MMDA last Friday tried to stop the spate of accidents by having priests bless accident-prone areas of the highway.

Meanwhile, Tolentino said the recent accidents should serve as an eye-opener for bus drivers to accept the new wage scheme where they will get a regular salary plus a performance-based commission.

He said that in Sunday’s accident, there is a possibility the bus driver involved was fatigued and could not react quickly.

“Baka hindi agad nakapreno so nangyari ang malagim na insidente kanina,” he said.

Observe traffic rules, Palace exhorts commuters, pedestrians

For its part, Malacañang appealed to commuters and pedestrians to follow traffic rules and cooperate with traffic enforcers.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said this means resisting the urge to jaywalk and instead using the elevated walkways and footbridges especially in busy areas.

“We exhort commuters to cooperate with enforcers when it comes to this para hindi malagay sa alanganin. Let’s make use of bus stops we have along EDSA,” she said on government-run dzRB radio.

Valte also reiterated the Palace’s support for the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority in its efforts to protect commuters.

She noted the MMDA has already made efforts to minimize the number of fatalities especially along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA). –KG, GMA News

O sige para matahimik ka na, I respect what you believe in and all other driver's beliefs...

Here's probably what you're looking for- It doesn't hurt to bless whatever, I agree.

But...please don't make a big deal out of it. Nagpa press pa para sa blessing ng EDSA. Magpa press ka kung may concrete plan na to avoid traffic accidents in EDSA.

May magagawa ba yang onting patak ng tubig sa mga kalsada ng EDSA? Magcacause lang mismo ng trafic yan sa mismong araw ng blessing.

Republican government tayo pero lagi mo na lang makikita mga officials nagpapasahan pa din ng mga gagawin. Walangya talaga oh. Pano tamad leader nila pati tuloy sila tamad hindi kasi napagsasabihan.

are they joking right? Seriously, ano ba magagawa nang dasal o basbas? May kasabihan nga nasa diyos ang awa nasa tao ang gawa, Disiplina sa sarili ang kailangan diyan, huwag ipasadiyos ang lahat. Kaya nga binigyan tayo nang utak para mag-isip, alam namang maulan siyempre madulas ang kalsada sana maging mas maingat na lang.

At sa mga ponsyo pilato na nakaisip nang "blessing" kayo na lang magpablessing, naghahanap na naman kayo nang paraan makakurakot, sympre funds na naman yan.
