    Malaysians: Truly Asians?

A good friend of mine, a Malaysian, claims that the brown race is composed exclusively of Malaysians, Indonesians and Filipinos.

I said, well, yes, except that you guys (Malaysians) have more Chinese in you.

    What's your opinion?

opinion lang ba? in my opinion, they're right. not sure if that's a fact.

What kind of Malaysian? Malays, Chinese, or Indian?

If you are talking about Malay, they tend to have stronger tribal feature than the pinoy kayumanggi and they tend to be a lot darker. Most Malay have a strong mix with indian blood, so you tend to see a handful of them with either curly hair or strong wavy hair. Those rare lighter skinned might have a mixture of chinese/european from their great great grand parents.

If we qualify a pinoy as a Malay race, you can't accurately claim that because I can see the difference between a Malay and a Filipino. The Filipino is a people with mixed heritage, the Malay more on the indian/tamil side.

Anyway, I'm explaining through a lot of ignorance because there's no such thing as race, but there is such a thing as adaptation of the skin to one's geographical location on earth. If you are near the equator, your body adapts to produce more melanin to protect you from harmful UV rays. Think of it as our natural sun block lotion.

What really separates people is "culture". Filipinos are so different from the Malays.

So, there's no such thing as a brown race. Because, some people are darker, some people are lighter, some people are whiter, some people are browner. You see many different shades of color because your body adapts accordingly to protect you from being a mutant.

Yes, she is. But it's not a cult. It's a recognized organization.

If there is no such thing as a brown race, what about brown rice? Are my eyes just deceiving me?

There is a brown race. Dr. Reggie Watts discusses briefly Brownness during Brown History Week...

Actually, people have only one color and that is brown, from the lightest shade to the darkest shade.

Black people are not black colored, they are dark brown colored. If you tan all light colored people from Caucasians to light skinned Asians, you end up with a tan brown color of different shades.

So, there's really no point dividing people on skin color because how can you divide it when there is only one color - brown.

    It is just a campaign.

Ts, kung may problema ka sa "Malaysia, Truly Asia" slogan nila, blame it Julie Lingan, a Filipina. She created this successful slogan.
