    Scary Movie 5 - 2013

"Scary Movie 5" Gets Director and Start Date

About a year ago, it was announced that "Scary Movie 5" would hit theaters on April 20th, 2012. Clearly that didn't happen. But Entertainment Weekly has now learned that Malcolm Lee (Undercover Brother, Roll Bounce) has been hired to direct the new installment.

Production is set to begin this summer with Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall and Kevin Hart all in talks to return. David Zucker, who wrote and directed both "Scary Movie 3" and "Scary Movie 4," will be back to co-write and produce the fifth film, which will be released on January 11th, 2013.

It's not clear whether Anna Faris will return as well, but back in October she revealed that she would be interested in playing Cindy again. "Yeah, I would," said Faris. "I loved playing Cindy. She's so dumb. She couldn't be less intelligent, that girl. It's really fun for me to play that role."

Anna Faris Won't Return for "Scary Movie 5"?

About two weeks ago, it was reported that Malcolm Lee (Undercover Brother, Roll Bounce) was hired to direct "Scary Movie 5" that's set to hit theaters on January 11th, 2013. Production is set to begin this summer with Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall and Kevin Hart all in talks to return.

But despite that Anna Faris has stated several times that she would love to play Cindy Campbell again, it appears that the studio is not interested in bringing her back. "No, I don't think I'm going to do it," she told ComingSoon during a press conference for "The Dictator." "I don't think I'm part of that. I don't know exactly what's happening with it."

Until we get an official cast announcement, it's tough to say who will end up starring in the film. But it would incredibly odd to simply cut a lead character out of a franchise without letting her pass the torch or at least killing her. Stay tuned.

‘Scary Movie 5′ Lands Ashley Tisdale For Leading Role

Former Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale has seen her young career go down multiple paths while putting in work for the über-popular network. But, in a world where you can become type-cast faster than you can say ‘Jaleel White,’ one must eventually branch off from her roots and attempt to sprout a new path. So, is Ashley Tisdale ready to head into the world of spoof comedy?

Dimension Film’s has announced the casting of the actress as one of the leads for the forthcoming Scary Movie 5. Malcolm Lee (Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins) will direct the project, while David Zucker, who directed the 3rd and 4th Scary Movie films is co-writing and producing the 5th.

Before Tisdale tackles her new role she will be donning the producer hat for the Bravo show Miss Advised. The show will be produced through Tisdale’s Blondie Girl Productions and will air on June 18, 2012.

The original Scary Movie was released in 2000 and throughout the franchise’s history the films have spoofed a number of horror movies, from The Exorcist, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer to Saw.

Franchise star Anna Faris (The Dictator), recently turned down the opportunity to headline the latest chapter of the franchise, thus opening the door for Tisdale to step in. While many would argue that the Scary Movie franchise lost a lot of its luster after the first two films, one can’t deny that Faris’ ability to pull off the goofy female protagonist was a bright spot throughout. Whether or not Tisdale will be able to pull off such a role remains to be seen.

Tisdale joins High School Musical alum Vanessa Hudgens on a growing line of actors/actresses who have found success with the Disney network – but are now slowly trying to distance themselves from the brand in order to begin new chapters in their professional lives. Of course, money (especially Disney money) talks, so would we really be surprised if we saw Tisdale in a potential College Musical? Probably not.

Scary Movie 5 has been delayed by over three months.

It will now open two weeks after Dead Man Down, on April 19th of next year – and one week before Tom Cruise’s Oblivion arrives.

Disney Channel alum Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Suite Life of Zack and Cody) will take over leading lady duties from Scary Movie stalwart Anna Faris in the fifth installment. Malcolm Lee (Undercover Brother) will likewise inherit helmer duties from Scary Movie 3 & 4 director David Zucker, who’s still co-writing and producing the (theoretically) funny flick.

Maybe some fresh blood is exactly what the faltering Scary Movie franchise needs to be re-energized.

Lindsay Lohan in talks for 'Scary Movie' role?

Lindsay Lohan is in talks to join the "Scary Movie" franchise for the upcoming fifth film, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

The actress recently completed a turn as Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie biopic called "Liz & ****" and is now rumored to be joining the cast of the next comedy horror spoof.

Lohan is said to be in negotiations to star in the fifth "Scary Movie" film opposite "High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale. The movie, which will be penned by "Airplane!" screenwriter David Zucker, is set for release next April.

Lindsay Lohan Is Close To Boarding Scary Movie 5

Thanks to a recent car accident and some lingering questions as to who was actually driving, Lindsay Lohan’s personal life has once again been front and center lately, which is a shame because the actress has suddenly started actually working again. Over the past six months, her career has finally gained real traction thanks to hosting SNL, a guest spot on Glee, a Lifetime Original Movie, the Bret Easton Ellis film The Canyons and now, Scary Movie 5.

Fine. That last one might not exactly be the Aaron Sorkin Steve Jobs movie, but at this stage in her career, work is work. It’s nice to see she realizes that too. According to The Wrap, Lohan is in the middle of negotiations to star alongside Ashley Tisdale in the newest installment of the horror spoof franchise. Details are still very fuzzy on the plot or even what role she might play, but if she officially boards, her presence should set the wheels in motion to begin doing some serious work on the project, which somehow, already has a release date of April 19, 2013.

Given all her legal problems and the fact she hasn’t been the star of a movie with any kind of wide release since 2007, people tend to forgot she was actually a decent actress during her younger years. She might not be Kate Winslet, but in the films she typically does, that level of acting isn’t required. As such, I genuinely hope she gets her life together. I’d much rather see someone of her caliber in Scary Movie 5 than a few of her peers.

Charlie Sheen, who also appeared in Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4, has just signed on for the parody sequel, joining fellow tabloid favorite Lindsay Lohan. Ashley Tisdale and Erica Ash lead the cast of the Malcolm Lee-directed movie, which will parody Black Swan in what E! says will be “a complete reboot” of the franchise. Scary Movie 5 is set to open April 19, 2013.
