Plausible. A new product idea for KFC perhaps?

And that would be publicity nonetheless right?

publicity = name recall = more customers to the store

    Brilliant marketing guy is brilliant.

This is just an advertising success thanks to the likes of jimmy. Only when the cheese on top appeals to people and make them buy will i consider this a marketing success. Or maybe the product concept is ''something stupid enough to cater those who like it weird''?

target market those who'd spend money because of advertising hype. Effort din yan market na yan

Marketing and advertising overlap in so many ways, and they are either defended or deserted by research.

This is what exactly I have been talking about. This "crazy thing called Streetwise Cheese Top" is doing the brand a lot of FREE advertising --- THAT KFC STILL EXISTS.

This "advertising success" is brought to you by Jimmy, this thread and all of us who continue to be looped into (or duped by, whichever you prefer) this organized marketing chaos.

Oh yeah, that ka-ching, ka-ching for KFC is even louder now.

Marketing: how many rooms per condo should we build? What's the NEED in the area?

Advertising: how do we let them know WE EXIST? Anne curtis in posters.

    ..............

Marketing: what's the NEED fo soAps right now? Ahhhh... whitening soap for rich - white color; whitening for poor - orange colored
Advertising: ysa (iya villasomething) versus kissa papaya soap(unknown model)

    ..............

Marketing: we NEED stupid looking cheese top burger
Advertising: let's hope jimmy will notice and make fun of our concept

You should understand that advertising is just one component of the marketing process.

It's like marketing is the whole cake and the slices are advertising, research, PR, sales, pricing, etc.

Anyway, it's the product itself that is being made fun of and not how the advertising people chose the colors and used the fonts, or how the "dumb burger" looks like in the picture.

And in the end, it's still a ka-ching for KFC.

Now that I think about it. That stupid burger really does generate quite a lot of curiosity from the public.

I suppose it's a good marketing pitch. But I still think it's a stupid burger; a good marketing tool, for what it's worth, but a stupid burger nonetheless.

^ Wondering who're tagging it that way, eh? Try searching "dumb cheese top burger" and see for yourself.

It's being subjected to a world-wide mockery for being the dumbest burger... yet.

Of course, I'm not trying to stop anyone from buying it. I, like a lot of other people, am just expressing what I think of the Cheese Top Burger.

Heck, people eat a lot of crazier food. Fried grasshoppers, for instance.

  11. #111
Duhhh I suggest they top with it also with a dab of tomato sauce and bits of onion, tomatoes and pepperoni or bacon and call it KFC Pizza Chicken Burger. Haha. KFC, just put the money in my account.

like by how much are u expecting for one to say it was a success. remember the word in question here is the word SUCCESS and MARKETING.

you know, if they got popular BY CHANCE because someone bothered to take notice, does it even deserve to be called an advertising success? unless you were even sure the kfc people had that in mind... for someone to take notice and turn it into hype... i'd say it rather looked like they've got nothing else to sell.

When a company gets free advertising, it saves a lot of moolah. That is a ka-ching itself.

Now, tell me. Which is being made fun of: how the "dumb burger" is advertised or the"dumb burger" itself?

saves a lot of moolah --> is that your criteria for defining advertising marketing success???!

kaching itself ---> as in?! have they reported increase in sales yet?

Ask your brother why marketing people would die to have free advertising to save moolah, and how this translates to ka-ching, ching.

It's all about the whole cake, remember?

    Or just re-read post 94.

it doesn't look that "dumb" to me.. thing is, it looks so much better in the poster than the actual picture.

whenever i want to go have a sandwich, i personally would rather go to the sandwich guy. their sandwiches are healthier and it's a real sandwich. and you get what you pay for.

  19. #119
^ so a burger is not a "REAL" sandwich?

I agree it's a dumb idea to make this "burger" but we don't have control of what kfc philippines does just to make a gimik. I guess whatever publicity they can get just to have people talk about them is good enough for them.
