Sir, I've read all of the reports pertaining to the Ford fiasco, it is not a 60/40 issue. It appears you didn't read the newsreport shared above.

Americans, Japanese, Indonesians, and Australians generally do not oppose the 60/40 limitation. Yes they are complaining, but it is generally about CORRUPTION and HIGH-PRICES of ELECTRICITY. Traffic too.

Ford was complaining that President Aquino chose not to continue GMA issued tax grants that would have been able to make the Philippines competitive with Thailand.

    @SeraphicVision

IMHO cheaper and continued supply of electricity, a factory literally runs on electricity.

and to think labas siya ng labas ng pera ng taumbayan a.k.a. waldas at gastador[IMF $1B fund, buying spree of military hardware(class destroyers, fighter jets)]. excuse me po ha, pero ginagalaw niya ang naimbak na pera ng mga OFW's/GIR sa panahon ni PGMA. bababa iyan sa 2016 na: a).baon tayo sa utang b).wala nang pera ang pilipinas

A LOT! From trade & investment incentives to the vibrant (ehem!) nightlife in Patpong. The govt there is doing something right- Thailand has become the Detroit of South East Asia.

BEIJING, CHINA — Ford Motor has chosen China for its largest factory expansion program in a half century, announcing on Thursday that it would build a $760 million assembly plant in Hangzhou, two weeks after announcing another $600 million plan to expand an assembly plant in Chongqing and less than six weeks after completing a third assembly plant in Chongqing.

    ...

    welll...well....well...

Ang mahal ng koryente, ang mahal ng tax sa Pinas... sino kaya gusto mag invest sa "it's more fun in the Phlippines?"

That China factory will primarily serve local Chinese market. While the closing Ford Philippines factory is going to to Thailand.

That is an April 2012 news. A lot of things are happening since after China's illegal economic sanctions and military aggression against the Philippines. Surely the Philippines is losing some (no thanks to President Aquino), but China is losing some too (lowest growth rate, record number of companies now leaving China).

Dude, we were exporting it to our neighbors. Ngayon, we'll be importing it na. And isn't this Ford plant manufacturing the Mazda 3 and Tribute as well?

Plus pano yung suppliers ng services and parts na bumubuhay sa Ford plant na 'to? Nope, I don't think 360 lang apektado dito.

if i am not mistaken, the phls manufactures the Jeepney, yes the junky looking eyesore environmentally dangerous, pride of the pinas.

@ c brain: unti-unti nang inalis ng Ford yung mga pino-produce nilang mga sasakyan dito. yung production ng Focus ang una nilang inalis, then isinunod na nila yung Mazda vehicles. the production of the Focus will join the production line of the Ranger and other Ford and Mazda vehicles at their facility in Rayong, Thailand.

tama si Andres Bonifacio. the China facility will only cater to the Chinese market. yung ASEAN and other Asian markets ng Ford will be served by the Rayong, Thailand facility.

don't forget also that Thai laws allow foreigners 100% ownership of businesses and properties. hindi pa kasama dun yung iba pang benefits such as a different taxation scheme. maganda talaga ang business climate sa Thailand kumpara dito.

Indeed. May nagsabi kasi that it doesn't matter e. Maliit lang daw kasi ang market ng Ford vehicles jan sa Pinas.

Short-sighted pa rin talaga hanggang ngayon tayong mga pinoy.

^ they never realize what kind of loss the Philippines will have now that Ford has given up on this country. akala yata nila yung oligarch-controlled Toyota (George Ty), Isuzu (Zobel de Ayala clan) and Honda (Zobel de Ayala clan) facilities dito are export-oriented and employ lots of people. what they do not know is that even Toyota, Isuzu and Honda now import CBUs from other facilities at kung meron man silang operations dito, yun ay ang mag-assemble na lang ng vehicles from kits.
