    Castlevania

Mods, paki merge na lang kung meron existing thread. Wala kasing kwenta yung search bar eh. Wala daw akong "privilege".

Anyway, let's discuss anything castlevania related here. I'm sure majority of players here are familiar with Symphony of the Night.

But first, I want to know your reaction about these two new games.

    Look who's back!

hyped ako sa mirror of fate! metroidvania FTW!

Exploration will be part of MoF, but I don't think this will be another Metroidvania. Mercury steam already stated that there is no level-up system like SotN. I think this will be similar to Simon's Quest with more depth

I remember the first time I played this series in my gameboy which was castlevania 2 (and not that trying hard to be zelda 2 on the nes).

Seriously though, I went into the lord of shadows storyline ready to be disappointed, but actually got me hooked into gabriel's plight. I'm totally looking into what they will do with the second lord of shadow's (and just how they will insert alucard in the mix).

Simon's Quest (NES) is the ancestor of Symphony of the Night, the game which everyone loves. So I wouldn't go far by saying it is a Zelda rip-off. Belmont's Revenge (GB) is quite a good title in it's time too.

I'm also surprised how they pulled an MGS3 on Lords of Shadow. The appearance of Trevor, Simon and Alucard made me excited for the upcoming games.

Belmont's Revenge just simply has one really hard dracula whom I'm proud to have beaten as a kid. I believe your right that it doesn't compare that much to zelda 2 with simon's quest.

I quite enjoy Simon's Quest especially the catchy music. The exploration is kinda confusing though.

I have fond memories of Castlevania having some of the best music ever in a videogame.

Dracula X Chronicles would have to be the best game in the series for me

Parang masyado namang exaggerated na ang Castlevania..
Ano na bang nangyari na kay Dracula? Patay na ba, namamatay ba siya o nase-seal lang lagi? Hindi ko kasi nalalaro lahat ng castlevania games. Best Storyline para sa akin yung Lament of Innocence, at best gameplay, Symphony of the Night.

Play Lords of Shadows and see for yourself.

Lords of Shadows is like the Christoper Nolan's batman = a reboot of the series.

According to canon natalo daw si Dracula permanently ni Julius Belmont noong 1999 (backstory ng Aria of Sorrows).

That is Igarashi's storyline. Dave Cox' (Lords of Shadow) is a different universe so previous games have nothing to do with LoS.

Iga's Dracula: Defeated by Julius Belmont circa 1999 his Castle and powers sealed by throb solar eclipse, and soul was reincarnated this time for good.

The Reboot Lord of Shadows is Dracula's orign, different from Lament of Innocence (If you think about it, Dracula's wife in both version is dead and the reason why he become thr powerful vampire )

I was initially attracted to Castlevania simply because I love horror, the idea of a holy (emphasis on holy) vampire hunter against the forces of evil (I really don't like it if you're the vampire or someone using dark powers against even darker powers) and music that not only gets in your head but meshes very well with the on-screen action.

Which is why I prefer the original Classicvanias.

By the time SOTN came out, there were only two elements I liked, music and horror...chalk out the holy vampire hunter part. Plus I really prefer it when it was point a to point b but having to traverse hard as hell territory. I wasn't too thrilled in searching point a to access point b all in a mode of moderate difficulty.

Lords of Shadow was ok but the music just wasn't as fantastic as the older games. Gabriel isn't what you'd call a role model though much less holy. I do love the boss fights but I'm a bit annoyed the most challenging one (from what I've heard) is DLC.

Plus I wish the framerate was smoother.
