Interesting notes:
1.) Orcullo lost to Kong in their group stage match-up, 5-9
2.) If Corteza beats Das, he will have a tough assignment in the next round as he will face the winner of former champion Mika Immonen-Tony Drago match.
3.) Rota and Caneda could face each other in the next round if they hurdle their first round assignment. so are Biado and Alba.
4.) we could see a Djanggo-Bata showdown again in the round of 16. But Djanggo has to beat two-time champion Chao Fong Pang aka the Silent Assassin in the first round.
5.) in a very surprising development, two American players failed to advance in the KO stage while Kuwait sends 4 cue artists. world 3rd-ranked Chris Melling of Great Britain also failed to advance.
