DXA Scanner? Where?

Hi Docs and everyone else,

Do you know where there is a DXA or DEXA Scanner here in the Philippines? It is normally used to measure Bone Mineral Density (BMD), usually for checking up on Osteoporosis.

DXA scans are used primarily to evaluate bone mineral density. DXA scans can also be used to measure total body composition and fat content with a high degree of accuracy comparable to hydrostatic weighing with a few important caveats.

I am looking for such scanners in Metro Manila, and how much such scans cost, and if they are covered by Maxicare, for example.

I think many private hospitals and diagnostic centers offer DEXA scans. I suggest you call them up (you can easily Google the numbers of tertiary hospitals and diagnostic centers) so you can inquire regarding the price and HMO coverage.
