PBA: Is it ready for minority team/franchise?

I am an avid fan of basketball. Specially PBA.

Looking on the # of players around, it seems they are rising but no teams are ready to sign them.

    Talents are getting wasted.

Do you think PBA is ready for minority team/franchise?

if i could only suggest, the PBA should welcome "merged" franchises to be able to put up a team.. i think this is common in the euroleagues where a team is being sponsored by a couple of companies/sponsors.. you'd see in their jerseys a lot of patches (think of pacquiao trunks ) this way, even "small franchises" can own a PBA team.. a team being owned by minority team/franchise will only be capable of running a team short term...

i love the merge concept but how about the billing? and what about their names? i want the pba to have this but the commercial aspect of the commercial league will not allow this because many teams treat the pba as brand advertising. ginebra can put healthtea on their jerseys but they will always be called ginebra. this would have been allowable if pba teams are city-based but then we all know what happened to the mba. rcpi-negros, lbc-batangas, and andok's-san juan are among mba's big budget sponsors but the mba also had help from a lot of faceless small companies that trashed their money for mediocre revenues.

Well hopefully PBA should reconsider the option of having citybased co-sponsored team to allow expansion team to open.

but that would mean teams would have to invest in arenas and aside from qc (araneta), pasig (philsports and ynares), rizal (the other ynares), pasay (moa), san juan and manila (ust) i don't if teams are ready to rent and invest on arenas.

like i said, this is the commercial aspect of the undertakings of a commercial league.

As much as I would like to have a city/province - based teams, I think it would not be feasible. Worse, given the the country's economic and political climate, it could foster corruption.

if i were to be asked, i also do not want city/province based teams.. why? logistically it is very tough (case in point: MBA or Liga Filipanas). merging of 2 or at max 3 companies to form a PBA team is ideal. re billing? this won't be much of an issue since it is simply portioning the shares of the companies in the team (ex: 20:20:60 ownership or equal ownership of 33.3% shares each). since the PBA is now a 3 conference format, each company can be represented per conference therefore giving equal exposure. if it would be argued that the AFC is longer than the 2, then i would say the company with the most number of shares be given the chance to represent the team in the AFC..

honestly, i believe my idea is VERY feasible but not really an immediate solution to giving more jobs to filipino ballers. remember that adding more teams would mean adjusting the pba schedules (or maybe even the tournament format), more airtime needed for tv/radio, and logistical expenses...

actually your idea is VERY feasible nga and its going to be confusing at first pero this should work out in the long run. siguro they should do this before even thinking of expanding. it will be exciting for team owners that now they have pooled their resources, they can make their teams better via free agency.

maybe we will see the return of multimillion deals like the 25 million offered to patrimonio and limpot in separate deals and the extremely shocking deal that tanduay once offered to danny ildefonso.

now the pba has to help these owners get the available players that they can bid at. i think this will also solve the "smc/tnt" league small market teams are ranting about.
