FOX 30 looking for next Skylar Laine - Philadelphia Neshoba Democrat

Meridian's FOX 30 is holding a local open audition - the winner of which will win a guaranteed audition in front of the American Idol producers during the New Orleans auditions later this summer.

FOX 30's Open Audition will be held one day only on June 28 from 4 p.m. -7 p.m. at The Palms on North Hills Street in Meridian.

"Last year, Skylar Laine won our open audition and the guaranteed audition pass," said Mike Reed, FOX 30's station owner.

"She amazed our judges, the producers of American Idol and the world with her talent- finishing in the Top 5 during last season's American Idol. Now she is about to embark on a whirl-wind tour of the United States. We are very proud of her success and that we played a part in it. Now we are giving another hopeful the same chance.

"The opportunity for a talented vocal artist to audition for the producers is rare. Thousands of hopefuls never make it past the gate keeper at the national open call auditions. We are guaranteeing the winner of our competition on June 28 an audition in front of the producers of American Idol during the New Orleans auditions in mid-July."

FOX 30's local auditions will be held one day only at The Palms on North Hills Street in Meridian on June 28.

Registration and auditions will be held on site and will begin at 4 p.m. and will end promptly at 7 p.m. Anyone auditioning must be prepared to sing at least one song of their choice in front of the judges and audience. Please bring a valid ID. Anyone under 18 years of age must have a legal guardian with them.

Anyone interested in auditioning must be a legal U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident who is eligible to work full-time in the United States; and is 15 to 28 years old on June 5, 2012, (which means you must be born on or between June 6, 1983, and June 5, 1997). If you were born before or after this window, you are not eligible to participate this season. For a complete list of eligibility requirements, please visit americanidol.com.
