Exactly! This is by far the best kept secret MS had. Although rumors were flying everywhere, no one knows for sure what the announcement MS will make this Monday....They have actually built the hype last week. Vague invitation to tech journalists and bloggers. If i'm not mistaken it is like this:

"You are invited to an exclusive Microsoft Media event in Los Angeles, California on Monday, June 18th. Doors open at 3:30 p.m."

And as a post script they said You don't want to miss this.

It got the entire tech blogosphere a-buzzing!

Worth the hype? I guess it is. Tech news sites are flooded with Microsoft Surface articles

It's 10.6” ClearType HD Display!



Plans on buying an iPad, screwed. There's even a non-RT version (Windows 8 Pro).

Nope they did not announce anything related to Windows Phone as they have slotted that for Jun20. Oh good times ahead!

Surface™ will comes with two option
1) Surface for Windows RT which will run on ARM; and
2) Surface for Windows 8 Pro which will run on Intel chip

it's interesting that microsoft is copying apple's strategy of selling computer products in a closed ecosystem - a computer product they designed, manufactured and which runs on an OS that they designed. it is not the first time that microsoft is coying the success model of apple.

i suppose this OS will not be available for other tablet manufactureres?

there are still a few important things missing from the Surface launch - actual sale date of the product and price. it's strange that these two important things are missing in their launch.

i guess microsoft still needs to learn from apple that part on how to launch products to the market. if this was apple, pre-orders could be made day after, the price set and deliveries of the product in one to three weeks.

microsoft appears like amateurs versus apple in announcing a product that will be available for sale months from now yet, in october.

it would be good for microsoft to succeed. apple needs good competition. many other tech companies have so far failed to give apple decent competition. they all seem to have failed. in fact lg has recently announced it is pulling out of the tablet market. the surface giving apple good competition will benefit consumers.

is microsoft smart enough to beat apple on the tablet?

Keyboard, USB3, HDMI, micro SDXC slot, OS version that can install x86 applications and not some crappy mobile apps, d*mn this thing will make an iPad looks like a kids toy
