This thread started as a meeting place of dingdong & marian fans
who felt that special chemistry between them in Marimar.
This thread allowed us to cheer their sweet eye-to-eyes & their light touches;
This thread allowed us to shriek as loud as we can even while alone in the comfort of our home, sitting quietly in front of our computers.
This thread eventually gave us our identity: the DongYanatics on February 18, 2008.
This thread gave us a DongYan home…
This thread allowed us to have a voice, a common struggle, a faith, and a love for our royal couple so deep that our lives were eventually changed.
Sixty-three threads and four years later,
This Dingdong-and-Marian thread here at PEx remains a blockbuster thread,
Completing more than 5,000 posts anywhere from 1 week to a few months later,
With as many as 690,000 to 800,000+ views per thread.
This thread is not just A thread here at PEx…
Sixty-three threads and four years later…
Even after transferring homes from our “mansion” to our “resthouse” to our “tambayan”,
Gaining new friends and losing some in the process,
While contented to see other DY groups spring and organize themselves
Into a strong umbrella of dingdong-and-marian fan groups,
This thread continues to be our home.
Sixty-three threads and four years later,
We have launched and supported 5 teleseryes: Marimar, Dyesebel, Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang, Endless Love and now MY BELOVED.
We had organized and attended special screenings & premieres of two DongYan movies: One True Love and You To Me Are Everything,
We had supported and campaigned for viewerships to their individual movies: Shake, Rattle & Roll (Nieves episode), Super Inday, Temptation Island, Panday2 and Segunda Mano.
We had volunteered for the various activities of Dingdong’s Yes Pinoy Foundation –
from its launch to cleaning classrooms, attending political sorties, judging talent contests and the like.
We had or conducted a Medical Mission for the hometown of Marian Rivera in Imus, Cavite.
We were present in all Bench fashion shows & scent launches of Dong,
We texted and liked, tweeted, followed & trended and voted our wholehearted support for every poll, campaign and contest that involved our royal couple.
We had defended both Marian and Dingdong against all those who dared to bash their good names and dared to convince us that their love is fleeting if not one-sided,
With the grace and poise and sense-of-humor that could have only come from our mutya herself.
Sixty-threads and four years later,
We have traversed land boundaries, time differences, social strata and life circumstances,
We are still friends with one another,
Although some may not be as “visible” as before…
And we still keep making new and more friends.
We have prayed for each other in times of sickness and death,
We have celebrated each other’s personal achievements & victories.
Sixty-three threads and four years later,
We are still, and always will be,
Here for Dingdong and Marian, and for those who continue to love & support them.
a year of love, faith & support for dingdong & marian -
a year of letting go of our inhibitions and releasing ourselves
from a used-to-be-a-happy-lurker status
to a true-blue DongYan addict
a year of finding our kindred spirits--
unrecalled usernames with unknown nicknames
and even unglimpsed faces & unrevealed personal details.
All that we knew of each other was the feel-good high that
we get whenever a "comrade" validates our observations
and affirms our kilig at even the quickest glance between the two,
the quickest touch on the arm, the sweetest smile,
the sparkle in their eyes...
a year of late-evening conferences (or early AM , depending on where you are!),
mostly held after that day's episode of the latest teleserye of our royal couple;
a year of attending as many SOP guestings , movie premieres,
mall tours, & other GMA show appearances of dd & mr--
with most of us braving the heat of the sun
or the enlarging leg muscles from the long hours of waiting outside the gma studio --
yet only too happy to be finally in the company of the DYan family...
a year of watching uploads , reading online journal articles,
visiting other showbiz sites to catch any news on dd & mr
a year of fighting bitter goats or other "beings"
whose main purpose is to hurt the reputation of yanyan & dong
and make the DYans let go of our love for them
a year of the highest-of-highs: when dong finally announced
the end of his relationship with K
and the lowest-of-lows: when dong dropped that (in)famous
"thank you K for the your love, understanding & support" line at Araneta last august;
and riding all sorts of waves in-between;
a year of making new friends, keeping them, discussing with them,
losing them, winning them back, yet losing them again...
in our quest for realigning only with those whom we know can help us in our DYan journey...
a year of changed lives...
changed daily routines...
changed priorities...
changed work mode...
changed nightlife and weekend habits ...
changed friendships...
changed outlook ...
changed impression of the local philippine showbiz scene...
A YEAR OF CARRYING ON...
OF KEEPING THE FAITH...
OF LIVING THE LOVE...
OF STANDING UP & SHOUTING ...
THAT THE DONGYANATICS FAMILY
WAS, IS , AND ALWAYS WILL BE ---
HERE FOR BOTH DINGDONG & MARIAN
AND FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BECOME FAMILY TO US...
NO LONGER JUST USERNAMES SHARING THE SAME ADDICTION
BUT KINDRED SPIRITS, SISTERS-IN-THE-FLESH, SOULMATES EVEN,
Kinilig ang lahat sa “Don’t Lie To Me” tanungan
Hirap man sa kalooban nami’y pikit-mata pa ring DY supporter
Sa promos ng You To Me, lalo kaming di-nagkanda-ugaga
At sa lahat-lahat pa, taos-pusong salamat nang marami. DINGDONG & MARIAN, WE LOVE YOU ENDLESSLY !!!
in light of all the bashing, the trashing,
the identity theft, the name-calling,
the accusations against certain DYans,
the horrendous attempts at breaking up this group
and the non-stop attack on the character
and the loveteam of Dong & YanYan ...
i thought of looking for a song
that would encourage us
to be a better friend to one another
because that is where the strength of this group comes from :
not in how beautiful our banners & fanarts are
but in the willingness of those who have the talent to share this gift.
not in how quicly we are able to upload DY tv guestings
but in our eagerness to share their links & transcripts.
not in how moving & well-made our DYan-music videos are
but in the excitement we generate in choosing the background song for it.
not in how many members we can gather to watch SOP or any other DY guesting,
but in our willingness to brave the "elements", manmade or natural...
just so we can show our support to dong & yanyan.
not in how expensive our gifts to dong and yan are,
but in our joy at giving them whatever helps them to remember
where they both started as solo artists and as a loveteam.
not in how much dollars our members from overseas donate
but in the humility with which we offer what little we may have
in support of our local activities.
not in how many professionals there are in our group
but in our unabashed ability to use whatever connections we may have
to make our "addiction" a little less uncomfortable.
not in how reliable our sources are or how accurate our dreams & illusions are
regarding the true status of the relationship of dong & yanyan,
but in the fun we share in decoding these "bitaminas".
not in how many members we already have
or whose name gets greeted on air by dong or yan,
but in knowing that though we may have our own little cliques & affiliations,
we are still united in our love & kilig for dong & yanyan
and our respect for each other's uniqueness.
not in our ability to detect and ignore a pretender or a goat
but in the grace & poise that we exhibit as we defend our "home" and our members ,
and our collective effort at...

Why did you enter showbiz?
What’s your biggest dream?
Who or what is your inspiration?
Describe yourself in three words. “Makulit, kalog, kaibigan.”
PEP: Something romantic
Dingdong: Gorgeous.
PEP: Song that best describes Marian?
PEP: What flower symbolizes Marian?
Dingdong: Love is just right.
Dingdong: It's right.
PEP: Ano ang terms of endearment ninyo ni Marian?
Dingdong: Marami. Nag-iiba araw-araw.
PEP: Are you a boobs or a butt person?
Dingdong: I am a butt person, lahat sa baba.
PEP: Describe Dingdong.
Marian: He's lovable! Oo naman, very lovable.
Marian: Kaldero dahil mahilig akong magluto.
Marian: "So Sexy!" from my dance album dahil sexy siya para sa akin.
Marian: Milk, of course!
PEP: What is love with Dingdong as your screen partner?
Marian: Para sa akin, love is happiness and love is inspiration. Kapag may love sa buhay mo, lahat masaya at lahat magagawa mo.
Dong: It varies depende sa occasion. I call her YUM.
Thing that annoys you about her?
Dong: Always on time.
Most memorable date?
Dong: Every date of ours has something different in it. Hindi umuulit. Dahil diyan, lahat ay memorable para sakin.
Dong On Marian’s best traits…
Dong: I could name one, and I can also go on and on and finish all (the) pages of Inside Showbiz magazine. She will going with me from any cliff, regardless of how high, as long as she knows I am holding her hand.
Fave dating/bonding place?
Dong: There is this Chapel in Makati that we frequent….whenever we are happy or sad, or both, or wala lang… we make it a point to share our thoughts and feelings with God there.
Dream for your parnter?
For Marian to be a certified chef one day
Your most unforgettable foreign trip together?
Dong: It would have to be in Spain when I met her father

On the screen and off, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera make a handsome pair, seemingly so compatible that their fans (or maybe even their non-fans) wish that they would live happily ever after not just in reel but for real.
They are inseparable. But they vehemently deny that they plan to end up “Mr. & Mrs.” this year, or in the very near future, never mind if unreliable managhuhula predicted otherwise.
But who knows? Dingdong and Marian might end up at the altar — in their latest small-screen team-up My Beloved which premieres on Feb. 13, eve of Valentine’s Day, on GMA. It’s the same soap that created a gigantic traffic jam several days ago during a “fake” accident where a big bus jumped off a skyway (or a bridge) at the intersection of Buendia and Roxas Boulevard.
Directed by Dominic Zapata, the all-star-cast includes Carl Guevarra, Jennica Garcia, Alden Richards, Louise delos Reyes, Mikael Daez, Katrina Halili, Saab Magalona and Ynna Asistio.
To make sure that Dingdong and Marian really match, Conversations asked them to complete some questions, separately of course (so there wasn’t any, uhm, comparing notes).
Dingdong
I hate people...who pretend to know it all, mayabang na wala namang ibubuga.
I avoid people...whom I hate.
My greatest pleasure is...sunset brandy or beer with my family (wife) by the porch of my ranch, while watching my children play.
My worst moment is...when I slipped on a staircase during a wedding, wearing my favorite tux, with my date by my side. (I was more worried about a back injury than my stupidity or clumsiness, hehehe!)
My biggest fear is...if an earthquake or a tsunami happened without my loved ones by my side.
I pray for...gratitude, hope, strength, love and clarity of mind.
The most important person in my life is...a group of people and not just one person.
If I were to be reincarnated as an animal, I would be...torn between choosing to be a monkey-eating eagle and a lion. Lion because I want to be the most knowledgeable in my territory. Eagle because aside from the fact that it can fly, its being an endangered specie makes it more valuable. So in case I want to rest from flying, I can go back to my home base, without the fear of anyone shooting me down.
My most traumatic experience was...when a mayor of a town that I visited during a campaign period was assassinated 10 meters away from where I was standing. More than the fear of death, it was the sight of pandemonium that followed that haunted me. I pity the children who were hurt.
I deal with gossip by...first, laughing. Then, I will face the truth by revealing facts to a respectable person who does not have any bias.
The one thing I can’t do without is…food...food...food!!!
Am I afraid of growing old?...Never.
The type of girls who turns me on...knows when to become a baby, regardless of stature.
The type of girls who turns me off...I have forgotten about it because the image of the girl that has turned me on erases the not-so-good memories.
My philosophy in life is...“lahat puwede, pero hindi lahat dapat.” — ROBOCAP
I lose my temper when...I have this black funny vision which I dread to happen.
When I’m alone in my room, I fantasize about…being limitless.
If I were somebody else I’d be...A PSG (Presidential Security Group) member.”
If I were somebody else I’d be...A PSG (Presidential Security Group) member.”
I am happiest when…it is Halloween and Christmas.
I am saddest when...a show/project that is close to me ends.
My ultimate goal is...to be ultimately happy.
What I like about myself...I see the goodness in every person.
What I don’t like about myself...hard-headed at times.
Face-to-face with God, I’d tell Him... “Thank you for giving me this life. I will do my best to take care of it and live by Your inspiration. I will see You...but not yet, not yet!”
Marian
I hate people…who are fake.
I avoid people…with bad intentions.
My greatest pleasure is…baking cakes and pastries.
My worst moment is…when I’m very tired and sleepy.
My biggest fear is…to lose my loved ones.
I pray for…good health and happiness for myself and for the people that I love.
The most important person in my life is...(aside from my family) Dingdong.
If I were to be reincarnated as an animal I would be…a butterfly.
My most traumatic experience was...falling and breaking my foot during a shoot.
I deal with gossip by…praying to God for strength.
The one thing I can’t do without is…my wallet.
Am I afraid of growing old?...No. I want to be a sexy, dancing lola.
The type of guy who turns me on...sweet, kind and loving.
The type of guy who turns me off...mayabang, conceited
My philosophy in life is...what cannot kill you will make you stronger.
I lose my temper when...I’m hungry and there’s no food (hahahaha!).
When I’m alone in my room, I fantasize…about...the future.
If I were somebody else I’d be...Amaya!
I am happiest when...I am at home cooking and baking.
I am saddest when...I don’t have work.
My ultimate goal is...for now, to study culinary arts, make good TV shows and movies, invest in real estate and eventually start a family.
What I like about myself…I am very affectionate, loyal and honest.
What I don’t like about myself…I am very emotional and trusting.
Face-to-face with God, I’d tell Him…“Thank You, God, for giving me a wonderful, happy life…I love You.”

MANILA, Philippines - There was a commotion on the way to The Philippine Star office. Apparently, a bus just flew out of the bridge and a crane was lifting the vehicle out of its sorry state. Feeling mobile journo, I quickly tweeted the photo from my car’s window. Seconds after, fellow citizen journalists updated me — it was a scene from the latest Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes starrer, My Beloved.
Everybody knows the reel to real-life romance between Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, from the sparks that flew during their first tandem in Marimar which made it into a record-breaking smash-hit teleserye to their latest project together where they play mystical creatures that turn the city upside down — something that happened to this writer that fateful afternoon on the way to the Port Area.
The couple, collectively called “Dongyan” by their diehard fans, is a bit of an enigma. They have magic together and can stand on their own when given projects apart. Some may have tried to tear the two apart, but their mettle as a couple has stood the test of time, their star power has been proven and is undoubted in an industry where “rise and fall” is the norm. “In this day of overexposure, stars rarely have “screaming” fans, (but) they do. They have the most, in fact,” entertainment stalwart Wilma Galvante told me over dinner in LA while US promoters were discussing who among Filipino stars were most effective with Pinoy communities here and abroad.
Being in show business, the great thing about the two is that, apart from the fact that they look great together, you only know so much about the two. Apart from when the cameras follow them, they lead pretty private existences. I remember one Valentine’s Day when they quietly walked in and sat in the most quiet part of the restaurant, savoring the rare quiet time they could to be together, despite hectic taping and shooting schedules. It just so happened that I was on the other table. But I stepped outside to give them their privacy, mind you.
Think Mr. and Mrs. Smith
The thing about Dingdong and Marian is that they know the game and they play it well. Think Mr. and Mrs. Smith. They know the “show” part and the “biz” part of being in showbiz. They are there to support each other through and through, from projects and advocacies to their personal lives, they are “partners” in the truest sense. In my mind’s eye, I think I know when one of them is not in the mood, but the other one knows how to adjust and give in. Stars are not camera-ready all the time; they are only human, too. Marian has proven time and again that she will fight for her love. I find that admirable at a time when most couples hit the eject button when hard times come.
Dingdong, on one hand, has graduated to higher pursuits, going after more humanitarian efforts, for the less fortunate, for education, for things that his star power can aid in terms of support. From awareness to funding, he has proven his sincerity in these, adding to his already stellar belt of achievements. Marian has always been there by his side, quietly supporting her man as he made his speech at the Yes Pinoy foundation launch, among many other moments where the couple has proven their support and yes, love for each other.
Marian just finished the long-running teleserye Amaya and is starting 2012 on her best foot. My Beloved — how apt a title for the on and off-screen partners. The TV series’ trailer that is being shown almost daily on the Kapuso network seems pretty inviting: A Twilight-slash-True Blood-esque spectacle, which promises to be more than that.
So in the end, what is the Dingdong-Marian magic? That their chemistry is palpable, being a real-life couple? That all hell breaks loose when someone tries to come in between? That their eyes light up when they’re together? Yes to all and more.
Magic is something that you can see, but cannot explain. To try to decode it would be pointless. For now, let us sit back, relax, and anticipate what each other’s Beloved has in store for each other, and for us, as captive audience.
