I loved my rare 6800. How can I forget that sexy 3210 and 6210 Cyber Silver? My weird 3650, my cute 8210. My gigantic 9210i. My very first camera phone 7650, and my first dual camera phone 6680. And many many more. I just miss my Nokia days.

Now, even my spare flash light phone is from Samsung.
predictions of a nokia collapse? well all the financial and stock market analysts are already saying it.

these predictions are based on actual nokia financial statements and statements make by nokia ceo elp just a few days ago.

nokia had a horrific 1qtr 2012 - $1.4 BILLION loss. a few days ago, elop said the 2nd qtr financials are worst than predicted. that can only mean much bigger financial loss for Nokia, bigger than $1.4 Billion.

elop also said the sales of their smarthphones (lumia) is weak or is not meeting expectations.

    these are real numbers here.

i am not a financial analyst so i cannot make predictions like that. i don't even think real outsider financial analysts can make such predictns either.

these are just milestones that nokia need to face - 2 debt papers will mature in the 3rd quarter. if nokia and many are saying they will not be able to pay up on these debt papers.

if nokia defaults on these debt papers, going into bankruptcy seem to be the next move.

You don't sound too sure now. It's like predicting someone's gonna die but you can't say when.

not even financial analysts will make predictns like that.

but i was right on the dot in saying some months ago that nokia can go bankrupt is this year or next year at the latest.

Nokia is pinning its hopes of survival on the Lumia range of phones, its first to use Windows software. But between the lavishly marketed global unveiling last November and March this year, the company had sold just 3m Lumias – a drop in the ocean compared to the 72m Apple iPhones sold since October.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...?newsfeed=true

    --------

the lumia not doing enough, not being bought by many consumers is at the core of the problem of nokia. the lumia is supposed to save nokia but it has not done that.

th lumia got mixed reviews, many were even positive but consumers were not buying it. even here in pex many posters keep talking about old nokia handsets but very few are saying they actually bought a lumia.

these are just predictions used to insult nokia fans. not really true.

    ^Huh?

Here's hoping that Nokia will be able to surmount its debt and come up with something big. The PureView seems to be promising, though I doubt this will be their deus ex machina.

not true? lol you should google, lol.

10,000 nokia workers laid off is no joke. that is around 20% to 25% of nokia's total worldwide work force. that means 20% to 25% of pinoys working at Nokia Philippines could lose their jobs in the near future. there is no joke in that.

Clear the decks: Nokia cuts 10000 jobs in radical shake-up

"Elop is cutting costs and hoping for a miracle, but it looks like Nokia is staying on death row," said John Strand, founder of Danish industry consultancy Strand Consult.

    ---

The current range of Lumia phones won some good reviews, but has had relatively little success among consumers.

    ----

At the end of the March Nokia had 4.9 billion euros of net cash and already before factoring in charges from the latest round of restructuring some analysts had said the company could run out of cash next year. On Friday the price of insuring Nokia debt in the credit default swaps market put the probability of default at 54 percent.

"Cash flow is the problem right now," said Morgan Stanley analyst Ehud Gelblum, while analysts at S&P Equity Research said there is a 30 per cent chance of Nokia's share of the phone market spiraling down to nothing.

another article saying the Lumia, the supposed savior of Nokia has not been successful :

For Nokia, a combination of factors have put the company in an increasingly difficult situation. Nokia's strategy simply isn't playing out as well as it had hoped, according Wood. Sales of its Windows Phone-based Lumia smartphones haven't taken off to the extent it needs, the appetite for Symbian-based smartphones has disappeared very quickly and Nokia has also struggled in the feature-phone sector.

what is the value of nokia's cellphone business?

wall street is of course now giving valuations on nokia. it will be what potential take over companies will pay for the nokia business if it is taken over.

this is the value that an analyst has put on the nolia cellphone business : ZERO value, it has no value,

"We assume zero value for the device and Nokia Siemens Networks businesses," he wrote. "We see little hope for a turnaround from here even with a refined strategy."

    http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/story/18...ias-true-value

that says this analyst does not see nokia's cellphone business as viable in the future. a company taking over nokia will buy nokia for reasons other than their cellphone business.

really sad considering nokia used to be the number one cellphone maker.
