Costly turnover. Sana si Teng nalang yung humawak last possession
And Tolomia also played that crucial steal. Siya rin pumatay sa UST last year during the 1st round.
1. fortuna missed layup and ferrer missed followup
2. ferrer's over the rim
3. fortuna's turnover
4. mariano had a good look but was highly contested
Great game between FEU and UST! FEU for the win!
Di katulad nung first game, at least nagsasagutan talaga both teams.
UST could have won it, if only they minimized their errors. Sayang lang. haha
as for FEU, 1 down 6 to go!![]()
True.
Teng gets a lot of criticism, some of it he deserves, for his shot-happy ways, but he should've had the last shot in this game. He was waxing hot all game long (4/5 or 5/6 from three)
What a disappointing loss.We had it in the bag but... Just like what Badong tweeted: "A typical UST loss". Hopefully, they could redeem themselves on Thursday against the Defending Champions.
Classic UST game today. Lead by 2 digits then let the opponents come back. I'm not even mad, it's just LULZ worthy at this point thinking that Pido has done nothing to change his so called "game plan".
Sidenote: Do they still play the crappy Spongecola song at the end of games?
Naturally, he almost always has the ball because the play starts with him, just like any other PG from other teams.
A loss is a loss and it's a painful loss indeed BUT I like what I'm seeing from UST so far. If they sustain or even exceed this performance in the eliminations, we will become even more dangerous. We now know how to have a cushion going into the last quarter and we have years of experience in winning by coming back from a deficit.
Abdul has solidified his game even more, thus enabling more opportunities for us to score from the perimeter and even players cutting and going to the basket. Teng no longer forces the issue by driving to the basket against taller defenders. He has better shot selection now IMHO. Fortuna no longer is pressured to carry the scoring load for the team which he had done last season, focusing more on setting up his teammates. But of course when the need or situation opens up, he can take the three or drive for a quick layup. Hopefully Bautista gets more good looks from the three point area and more playing time for Louie Vigil. Afuang is still doing his defensive work and getting jumpers from time to time.
The missing link right now is Kevin Ferrer. He's still hesitant to score even if there's a defender in front of him. I'm not saying he has to force to issue but he has to learn when to take the shot or drive even if he's not open. Players like Abdul, Fortuna, Teng, Afuang and to some extent Mariano know when and where to take risks with high probability of success. Ferrer hasn't gone over that hump yet, and he has to learn that now. The good thing about him is his rebounding in this first game.
I'd have to disagree that this is a "typical UST loss". Let us remind ourselves that FEU is a runner up for two consecutive years. Nangyayari yang nangyari kay Fortuna even from the best players and I don't think Fortuna would allow any of that in the remaining games. He's on his last year and I think he would do everything for us to win. I would even think this would push the team to play better, especially in our second game against the defending champions.
