the present generation of spain, the descendants of the spaniards you so awfully hate don't give a crap about philippines na. they as a nation have learned from the inhumane ways of their ancestors. history is there for a purpose and surely not for aimlessly bringing back the past. we can endlessly bring it up and curse on them...but they're deadz we've had sooo much time to elevate our society noh. history should serve as a lesson and a basis for progress so we won't do the same mistakes again.

While reading this forum I just realized history seems to be not a very important subject in school. Most of the people tend to forget history.

In China, teacher and govt makes their citizen remember the worst war history of all time. it's in the museum, it's preached in school every year. Call it propoganda but this is the reason to a better nation. Everyone vowed to stand up and work together to better the lives and the economy. to never let any neighbour to bully them back like the WW2.

The problem with the Philippines is not a lot of people tend to remember or care. Go ahead and ask what is Araw ng Kagitingan to the poor and some students here, I'm pretty sure they will tell you "walang pasok!"...

In fairness, the Chinese adapted well with pinoy society. They've lived here for generations. They became catholics, learned the language, and blended local tradition with theirs. Unlike those other 3 mentioned, they didn't came here to conquer. They fled here to escape the hardship of China. Millions died in China during the communist revolution and great famine.

The Japanese, Spaniards, and Americans all have one thing in common - conquer Philippines, erase pinoy culture and install their own. Pinoys were their colonial subjects whose purpose was to serve their colonial master. Of these 3, the Japanese are the most cruel.

Most of those countries except Singapore were colonized (in the old school terms...sending colonist eg most of those country's main and initial settlers were British whites) with the use of the old way of European colonization, literal colonization of land. The latter way of colonization by the British mostly done by hand motion of the British war machines facilitated by the state sponsored British companies (most importantly the East India Company).

If we were colonized by the British like those countries, you'd probably be living in a reservation by now (like the Native Americans and some Canadian First Nations and historically the Australian aborigines) or natives would be marginalized (like the Maoris and Australian aborigines).

Tons of former colonies are poor. Give for example Afghanistan and half of Africa (hell the 'crown jewels' India---with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma---are still poor...if not hella poor ).
