The DOUBTING ATHEIST I can't be sure GOD DOES NOT Exist - Richard Dawkins

Richard Dawkins: I can't be sure God does not exist
He is regarded as the most famous atheist in the world but last night Professor Richard Dawkins admitted he could not be sure that God does not exist.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/reli...not-exist.html

He told the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, that he preferred to call himself an agnostic rather than an atheist.

The two men were taking part in a public “dialogue” at Oxford University at the end of a week which has seen bitter debate about the role of religion in public life in Britain.

Last week Baroness Warsi, the Tory party chairman, warned of a tide of “militant secularism” challenging the religious foundations of British society.

The discussion, in Sir Christopher Wren’s Sheldonian Theatre, attracted attention from around the world.

As well as being relayed to two other theatres, it was streamed live on the internet and promoted fierce debate on the Twitter social network.

Can someone explain what message the author of the comic is trying to say here?

Dawkins can't be sure that Santa Clause, fairies, leprechauns and yes, gods don't exist. He's been saying that since 2006.

It's what scientists have been saying. they don't claim to have have absolute certainty. They are quite sure that the burden of proof is on the positive claimants and have yet to be satiated. so yeah, keep on believing in Santa.

an Atheist hardcore is now telling you that he is not sure if God really does not EXIST
got the point? Don't deviate to another topic

So I think the TS should change Dawkins' title to "world's most famous agnostic".

This is actually old news, I don't know why people are surprised to hear this when he already mentioned this in his books.

It's you who don't get the point.

It's not just Dawkins who isn't sure "god really does not exist". ALL rational atheists and scientists are NOT SURE either. They CAN'T PROVE that god does not exist.

But still, they don't believe in God. Why? Because of lack of evidence.

    It's really that simple:

We should not believe in something just because we're not sure it doesn't exist.
Rather, we should believe in something because there is EVIDENCE for it.

We're not sure if faeries really don't exist. So, should we believe in faeries now?
We're not sure if leprechauns really don't exist. So, should YOU believe in leprechauns now?
We're not sure if Santa, Zeus, Allah, Unicorns really exist or not. So, should people start believing in the m now?
Dawkins is not sure if god really does not exist. Does that mean people should believe in god now?

NO. Why? See bold sentence above.

I'm not sure if Baal exists either. For one, I don't know how he looks like, either the blue-eyes looker or the ugly God of myth. At any rate, if He shows up in my refrigerator, I would not recognize him. So, I am agnostic as far as Baal is concerned.

Does he always need a figure? We can not always judge by what we see

ok lang mag doubt eh, even thomas doubted diba

    even I doubted

even great men of faith doubted at some point of their lives

pero nag dodoubt ka na nga, wala kang ibang ginawa sa buhay mo kung hindi atakihin si God, ang kanyang salita, ang mga believers, araw-araw, ibang usapan na iyon

that is not doubting anymore, you firmly believe that God sucks

sa pure 100% atheist i dont see any problem if they attack the Biblical God, kasi wala ngang Diyos sa kanila

pero sa mga agnostic, who longs to know the real God, I can't see the reason why?

so personally, agnostic=atheist, kahit sa conversation laging magkakampi ang agnostic at atheist, agnostic is atheist without balls ganun lang iyon

Dawkins is a scientist. He is not goong to claim 100% certainty on anything. Ganun ang mga scientists. Now if you can claim that you are 100% sure that there are no fairies, then we'll concede.

So you should tell him to stop mocking the theist because he is not sure if a god does not really exist. What is the importance of mocking them if he is not sure what he is mocking? Is he nuts?
