Focus, guys. It is not about greed, about being materialistic, or about sacrifice. What we are shocked about is Jesus' use of the word "ALL". Did he mean all when he said "all" or was he just joking again? This dude is losing credibility. He said one thing, and his followers interpret the opposite. Did he say "all" to mean "not quite all"?
Dessa, Jesus said, "... and give the proceeds to the poor." Paano ka maka-comply nyan e kung ikaw pa rin ang gumagamit ng gamit mo kahit na feeling mo ay kay Lord ang lahat na gamit mo?
Don't forget to mention the Yeast of the Pharisee.
Christianity came from one individual. This made it a lot easy for people to follow yet too many opinions changed what Christ meant. The diversity of opinions has demolished the unity that Christ promises because the mission of Jesus is to bring the Holy Spirit into our hearts instead. It shall be the Holy Spirit that would lead men to the Truth.
In reality, Jesus never intended for his work to be preached like what the Scribes and Pharisees of his time did with the Law. Jesus asked his apostles to make "disciples" of all men. He gave us a recipe which the spiritual calls "The Way", yet how come there are too many directions from too many conflicting opinions of modern day Pharisees? The answer is these people are not following Christ.
The Way of the Lord is to lead men to the Father. Since there is only one God, then all men would be One as the Father and the Son are One. For the same reason, the Gospels would have to be preached in all its fullness (no longer by passages) before the end comes.
Whoa! Please do not publicly emphasize your complete ignorance of the gospels. Essentially, the gospels are about CAPITALISM and Jesus emphasizes this idea many times in the parables of the talents, gold coins, etc. Giving up everything to buy that field is a form of holocaust, a sacrificial offering that God expects from us.
Abraham offered Isaac. He was ready to kill him as a response to God's Will. Isaac was his son, given in their old age. An only son in those days meant filial heritage, security and welfare. This is what is meant by giving up everything for Abraham. Jesus too showed us how it is done, pick up your cross and follow him. That is the story of the passion of Christ: He willingly gave up his life for the ransom of many.
