pangalan niya pa lang halatang apple nuthugger with their so-called "innovations", dahil sa ANTENNAgate INNOVATION.

    lololololol

superior quality ba sabi mo? lols
puro porma wala namang kwenta. una kasing inatupag porma at pa premium build kuno quality by adding metal sa phone pang takip ayun walang signal. magaling, magaling. hehe

The biggest news at the show actually did come on the hardware front, however. The company not only updated its entire line of portables (the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro notebooks), but also introduced a new, shockingly different model of the MacBook Pro that includes a super-high-resolution Retina display.

The creatively named MacBook Pro with Retina Display has a 15-inch screen with a mind-boggling resolution of 2880 x 1800, and top-of-the-line CPU and storage specs to match. The device is thinner than previous versions and has a whole new array of ports (though not an optical drive).

In person, the screen was as breathtaking as the new iPad’s display was when I first laid eyes on it. It certainly puts the competition to shame by orders of magnitude. But that shame-inducing hardware comes with a price: the new laptop starts at $2,199 and goes up from there.

Still, for professionals who need horsepower and a lot of screen real estate, it’s hard to ignore the innovative new laptop. Even though it’s somewhat of a niche product right now, it signals what’s ahead for Apple. Thinner, lighter and faster — with amazing screen technology, too.

Has Apple seen Windows 8 yet? They seem very oblivious.

    Something unsettling about that obliviousness.

i suppose this OS will not be available for other tablet manufactureres?

there are still a few important things missing from the Surface launch - actual sale date of the product and price. it's strange that these two important things are missing in their launch.

i guess microsoft still needs to learn from apple that part on how to launch products to the market. if this was apple, pre-orders could be made day after, the price set and deliveries of the product in one to three weeks.

it would be good for microsoft to succeed. apple needs good competition. many other tech companies have so far failed to give apple decent competition. they all seem to have failed. in fact lg has recently announced it is pulling out of the tablet market. the surface giving apple good competition will benefit consumers.

is microsoft smart enough to beat apple on the tablet?

Newest OS X might launch July 25
    July 19, 2012 6:50pm

Mountain Lion, Apple Inc.'s newest operating system for desktop and laptop computers, may launch on July 25, an enthusiast site reported.

A post on 9to5mac.com cited information that Apple stores in the United States and overseas had planned "overnights" for July 24.

"With OS X Mountain Lion launching 'in July,' according to Apple, we believe that it is sensible to speculate that this overnight may point to a public launch the following day," it said.

But it also noted the overnights may be smaller for this year, as Mountain Lion is not being launched alongside hardware.

Last year, Lion was launched along with new Mac Minis and MacBook Air laptops.

"One employee tells us that it is basically just a few guys running around with the master image installing it on every Mac. Notably, some stores we’ve spoken to haven’t heard of any overnight…yet," it said.

It added July 25 would come a day after Apple is expected to announce its quarterly earnings for 2012.

The site noted Apple launched OS X Lion on July 20 last year, a day after its Q3 2011 earnings announcement.

"It appears that Apple may follow that same pattern this year," 9to5mac.com said.

OS X Mountain Lion will be an upgrade worth $19.99 and will be available through the Mac App Store on launch day.

Earlier, Apple already released to developers the Golden Master – build number 12A269 - a 4.34-GB Mac App Store download.

But 9to5mac.com also said this may also be a "coincidence" as Apple often holds Tuesday overnights.

"But, there is already under two weeks left in July, and with last year’s launch pattern prime for repetition (launch announcement during the upcoming earnings call), we’d say a July 25th launch is increasingly likely," it added. — TJD, GMA News

iOS6 to address app store hacking vulnerability
    July 25, 2012 6:21pm

First, the good news: Apple Inc. is working to fix a vulnerability in its App Store that allows a hack to potentially cheat developers of income by allowing free in-app purchases.

Now, the bad news: The fix may come in iOS 6, Apple's operating system for its mobile devices such as the iPhone smartphone, iPad tablet, and iPod Touch.

"A vulnerability has been discovered in iOS 5.1 and earlier related to validating in-app purchase receipts by connecting to the App Store server directly from an iOS device. An attacker can alter the DNS table to redirect these requests to a server controlled by the attacker," Apple said.

It said the user, with a certificate authority controlled by the attacker, can fool the Apple device into thinking the attacker’s server is an App Store server.

When this fraudulent server is asked to validate an invalid receipt, it responds as if the receipt were valid, Apple said.

"iOS 6 will address this vulnerability," it said.

But for now, it urged developers to follow the best practices including:

Check that the SSL certificate used to connect to the App Store server is an EV certificate.
Check that the information returned from validation matches the information in the SKPayment object.
Check that the receipt has a valid signature.
Check that new transactions have a unique transaction ID.

It also urged developers to have their app perform receipt validation by sending the receipt to their server and having their server perform the validation with the App Store server.

A separate article on PC World said the App Store hack by Russian hacker Alexey Borodin lets iOS users trick the App Store into giving them in-app purchases for free.

The hack went public earlier this month. — TJD, GMA News

Apple Mountain Lion hits 3 million downloads in 4 days
    August 1, 2012 6:33pm

Apple Inc.’s newest cat is roaring: the tech company said Mountain Lion, its newest OS X operating system for desktops and laptops, surpassed three million downloads barely four days after its release.

This feat makes Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) the “most successful” OS X release so far, Apple said in a news release posted on its website.

“Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Mountain Lion, which claims to have more than 200 new features, is the ninth major release of Apple’s OS X platform for desktop and laptop computers.

It can be downloaded from the Mac App Store as an upgrade to Lion (OS X 7) or Snow Leopard (OS X 6) users for $19.99.

Among Mountain Lion’s new features are the Messages app, Notification Center, system-wide Sharing, Dictation, AirPlay Mirroring and Game Center.

Facebook integration is coming soon as a software upgrade, Apple said.

Random Mac Pro users get the boot in Mountain Lion
    August 3, 2012 11:25am

Some users of Apple's latest OS X, Mountain Lion, have reported being randomly logged out of their sessions, with a conflict with dual graphics processing units (GPUs) being blamed for the problem.

The conflict may have caused a window server crash that forces users back to the log-in screen, tech site CNET reported.

It cited complaints by users who said the Mac would quit all running applications without warning and bring them to the log-in screen.

It said crash logs showed the problem stemmed from the window server handling certain graphics functions.

"While this may appear as if the system has restarted or even performed a standard log-out, the system is in fact experiencing a crash in a critical process called the Window Server that supports the current log-in session by managing the drawing and representation of windows on the screen," it said.

It added the problem may be due to some advanced desktop management features such as Expose, Missions Control, or switching between multiple desktops.

On the other hand, CNET said those reporting the problem so far have been found to have multiple monitors attached to more than one GPU in their Mac Pro systems.

"In testing, those who have switched to using just one video card either by unplugging monitors from the second card or removing it from the system have found when doing so the problem disappears," it said.

Also, it said those who booted the system in Safe Mode, which loads only basic drivers and disables graphics acceleration, said the problem does not persist.

CNET aso said a clean install of OS X by formatting the hard drive and reinstalling showed no change, hinting a software configuration issue is not to blame.
