Should big men stay in college for two or more years to develop their game?

This is a bit obvious nowadays that big men who make instant impact in NCAA will enter the draft after their first year. Their games are raw, they are immature and sometimes, they end up being a failure or far away from their potential.

Masyado ba nilang minamadali ang pagpasok sa NBA without thinking of having their games polished in the collegiate ranks? Should they stay for two or more years in college to further improve their game and their attitude towards it?

this should not apply only for big men. guards who suck but think they are nba-ready should think twice and stay for more years in college.

i think this is the case of demarcus cousins, john wall, hasheem thabeet, jonny flynn and even andrew bynum among others. they think they can play at a high level in the nba because they made big waves in the collegiate ranks without thinking that NBA is for grown men.

Not all big men who played out their eligibility in college came into the league well polished. Roy Hibbert was raw as sushi when he came into the league. He was just as polished as the rookie Dwight Howard who took the prep-to-pros route.

ideally yes, but ive always felt that playing out the eligibility in college helps shape the maturity of the player, not necessarily develop or improve their game/skills. Howard was a raw beast when he was a rookie, and in contrast, I felt that Okafor was far more NBA-ready back then. Look at them now.

Also, there aren't a lot of big man prospects to begin with whether prep or college.

them big men should all undergo a training camp with hakeem olajuwon before entering the draft. d12,kobe, lebron at some point took the time to train with hakeem and it improved their footwork and post game, hibbert had tim duncan as his tutor

make them finish college. all of them. not just big men.

that extra 2 years will give them the experience and mental toughness they need once they enter the big league.

steve kerr wrote a great article on that and more:
