The first one was ok for a boob tube.

I hope the next one is a big screen worthy.

pano nila magagawan ng sequel kung yung first installation ay binaboy na nila? SERYOSO? pano magpapatuloy ang story kung tinanggal sa first movie ang:
    1. prophecy
    2. oracle
    3. si ARES
    4. si Kronos
    5. at ginawang 16 years old si percy jackson.

mukhang malabong sundan. i'd want a reboot ng lightning thief, yung faithful sa libro at hindi binaboy na version

IF you saw the first movie before you read the book, then it's okay. But if it's the other way around, you would know the feeling of total disappointment. The adaptation doesn't really follow well with the book's plot as well as the facts that are supposed to be a must-have or must-be-defined for the sequel to push through.

After watching it, I really didn't expect it to have a sequel, because of the loose adaptation. But since it will have, I wonder how will they bridge the gap between the adaptation and the book so as to not frustrate those avid readers like me that already finished reading the whole arc of Percy Jackson.

Maybe that's why it took sooooo long for the sequel to materialize. Just my 2 1/2 cents

Big Love star Douglas Smith is in talks to join the next Percy Jackson film. Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario return for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters, which finds Percy (son of Poseidon) and his demigod friends heading to the Island of the Cyclopes (which, in our case, is the Bermuda Triangle neato!) in order to retrieve a Golden Fleece. Chris Columbus, who directed the first film, is stepping back into a purely producer role on the sequel. Thor Freudenthal (The Diary of a Wimpy Kid) will take the helm, with a release date set for March 26th, 2013.

    Nathan Fillion to Play Hermes

Castle star and all-around great guy Nathan Fillion is set to join Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters as a god. THR reports that Fillion will play Hermes (that fast one with wings on his shoes), the father of the antagonist of the series, Luke. The character of Hermes was played by Dylan Neal in the first film. Lukethe agreed-upon name for all evil youngstersis played by Jake Abel, opposite star Logan Lerman who is returning as the demigod Percy. Also reprising their roles from The Lightning Thief are Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson. Director Chris Columbus is taking a producer credit on the follow-up, with Thor Freudenthal (The Diary of a Wimpy Kid).

The plot of Sea of Monsters finds Percy and his demigod friends heading to the Island of the Cyclops (the Bermuda Triangle) in order to retrieve a Golden Fleece. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters opens March 27th, 2013.

    Bagay na Hermes si Castle!

Glimmer as Clarisse? I always pictured her as someone big. Hmmm... we'll see.

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monster (2013)

    October 2011:
Fox decided to push through a sequel to 2010's Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The sequel is, obviously, based from the book The Sea of Monsters and is, as of now, officially titled Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters. It is scheduled for an August 18, 2013 release.

    Changes/Improvements they will make
    New Director - Thor Freudenthal
New Actors - Nathan Fillion replacing Dylan Neal as Hermes, Anthony Head replacing Pierce Brosnan as Chiron
New Characters - Clarisse (Leven Rambin), Mr. D (Stanley Tucci?), Tyson (Douglas Smith), Thalia Grace, Silena and many others.
Character Appearances - Annabeth's hair will be blonde

Here's a fanmade poster i found on Facebook:

well, the books are really great, despite the poor adaptation of the lightning thief i think we should give it a chance.. I really hope the sequel will be as good as the book...

I haven't read the books but I have watched the movie. Personally I enjoyed it. Not all movies need to have a deep plot, some just need to be fun and adventurous. Don't get me wrong I love movies that make you think (prometheus or inception) but once in a while I also like to watch movies that are just simple and straightforward. Besides with stars like Logan Lerman (teen heartthrob), this movie is targeted for the teens.

I look forward to watching this installment soon

    This.

Also Logan Lerman is a fine actor hindi lang siya pretty face may talent talaga. He will be in the Perks of Being a Wallflower showing this year.

Sa mga nagrereklamo about the movie, don't compare kasi talaga madidisappoint kayo. with the first film it is a given na iba talaga ang movie sa book.

so huwag na magsalita pa na hindi na masusundan and hindi na maganda kasi masyado ng iba, dahil in the first place hindi naman talaga nila sinunod ang book. huwag na lang icompare.

Im liking the plot of the movie kasi kung carbon copy lang din pala ng book wala na rin surprises masyado na predictable, hindi na lang sana ako nanuod instead binasa ko na lang ulet since iyon din pala mangyayari.

I don't think people are nitpicking. It's okay to deviate a little from the book. But the biggest mistake of the first movie, IMO, is totally forgetting the series' major plot. Loved HP's movie adaptations. It veers away from the book, yes, but at least you know where it's headed with Harry and Voldemort. Kronos and the 'big plan' weren't even mentioned. It was made as if they weren't expecting a sequel.

Oh, well. They can introduce everything at the start of this second movie installment. Hoping it gets better.

Rowling had set an agreement to the producers that the movie Harry Potter would be very true to the book.

This one isnt. It's irritating, not only minor changes but a lot. Hope they will repair or whatever for it to look and be a worthy as a follow up.

Watching the movie isnt that bad if you dont compare
