What is happening to the public university that is funded by the government and suppose to attract good students? Anyone from public office care to share there sentiments?
I stopped caring about surveys like this. Partly because I do not trust the result (oh, and UP did not participate, I heard) but mostly, as a grad student who had considerable interaction (more than that of the usual proud undergrad) with the faculty and grad students from the Big Four, I know where UP stands.
It's the bar exams that really hurts. ^_^
I admire youre thinking, open-minded.
I'm not from the top universities according to the survey nor from UP but it's not fair that you only listed two evidences to validate your point. From an outsiders point of view, it seems that you're just bashing UP (I'm not sure though, I'm just saying this based on my observation from the other thread).
trolling..... Untoy Layug where are you?!?!?
Contrary to the articles I've seen regarding the 2012 QS Asian University Rankings, UP is actually in the list. It's tied with Inha University at #68. Look it up.http://www.topuniversities.com/unive...rankings/2012/
With all due respect, but ano itong thread na ito? palusot? Is this PEX's way of mollifying UPexers and/or crucifying empoweredtams for the failure of the mods to check the links provided.
Is this a legitimate thread in the first place? I dont think empoweredtams started this thread, as is being implied, since he got banned a week ago.
Again with all due respect, may I suggest that we lock this thread and reopen the old one so people could make the necessary corrections there.

LOL @ visual analysis
Even their official student publication reported about UP's non-inclusion in the said annual survey:
UST is 148th in Asian rankings
May 31, 2012, 12:18 a.m.:
UST DROPPED 44 notches to No. 148 in the 2012 ranking of Asian universities, its lowest standing since 2009.
With a score of 36.56, UST placed behind Ateneo de Manila which ranked 86th at (48.86 points) and De La Salle University which ranked 142nd (38.05 points) in this year’s Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS) Top 200 Asian University Rankings.
UST fell from 104th place last year. The University ranked 101st in 2010 and 144th in 2009.
Ateneo also went down from last year’s 65th while La Salle slid 35 notches from last year’s 107th. State-run University of the Philippines, which ranked 62nd in 2011, did not place in this year’s list of top 200 Asian universities.
University of Southeastern Philippines meanwhile entered this year’s 201+ bracket.

I do not understand your questions. This thread was created by empoweredtams on May 30, 2012. If he was banned just last week, your insinuation that it's not actually empoweredtams who created this thread is unfounded.
@fortherecord, I have a feeling that the Varsitarian writer got his/her info from this thread.
I was supposed to post at the other thread but apparently, it is locked. I concur with reopening the other thread.
Empoweredtams created this thread at the same date as the other thread, 2012 May 30. And the thread doesn't give me the impression of mollification, just another avenue for discussing the QS results.![]()
Haha the QS would have been useless and inaccurate if they'd exclude schools like UP for the sole reason that they did not participate in the rankings.
Top 68 naman pala eh. At nakakatawa yung mga hindi nagcoconfirm sa mismong website ha.![]()
Moving on...

Pasok naman pala ang State U eh. It is really unfair and unbelievable for UP, our country's National University, not to be included in the list even if they did not participate in the rankings. Common sense lang yan, alam naman nating lahat na UP will always be UP and whichever school in the country we come from pa, we all know deep inside that UP is the standard bearer in the Philippines as far as academic excellence is concerned.
