Anyone using this as a gauge to your workout intensity, especially cardio training? safe daw sa 85%. I always push to the limit hangang tumutulo na laway at uhog.;-) My friend usse it and he never pushes above 85%, slow down daw pag lumampas na. Parang nagset ka ng limit, eh pano kung kaya pa? I always try to workout to fatigue/failure. Unless it's one of those recovery days.

Not convinced of its usefulness for regular people, so I've never used one.
If you have a heart condition and really need to make sure you don't go over some prescribed limit, it might be useful.

Yan din opinion ko meng. I'd say if you dont have a heart/physical condition, push yourself to max as much as you can.
But then again look at the athletes who are marathoners or soccer players that have heart attacks while doing their sport. Makes you think though. :-)

Interesting study, but could have been better if it included test subjects that do different cardio exercises for like 45min. a day to at least gauge if it was any better than prolonged cardio exercises like marathons. With interval training or what have you, you will have portions that are intense which is improbable that anyone can sustain that for long periods of time. With marathons, it's pacing yourself to save up for the last mile to finish. Let's say you ask a marathoner to sprint even 20 sec. at a time in intervals, most likely he wont be able to finish the same distance as if he were just doing his own way of running. I would say short period of intense cardio training should have been added in the study so that you can quantify that cardio is indeed bad for the heart.
