The New York Knickerbockers 2012-2013 Season Thread

Hello to all the Knickerbocker fans here and the ever entertaining haters and critics! The Knicks have gone fishing and we're looking forward to next season. Full of optimism and questions, the Knicks are looking to make an impact in the Eastern Conference.

This past season's goal was to be a Top 4 Team in the East. Unfortunately, that didn't materialize. This season, hopefully we get everyone back (Lin, and Shump healthy). New season, new beginning. This year, we are no longer chasing after big names. The only roster changes we will be making are by adding free agents that are affordable, and making little trades here and there.

One move that we can make though is trading Amar'e Stoudemire. I've said this before, and now here it is.

    alan hahn ‏@alanhahn

“@sgregory151: @alanhahn broussard just said the knicks offered amare 2 golden state but gs didnt want 2 hear it.” interesting.

The Knicks are reportedly offering Amar'e to Golden State. Sources are saying that the package revolves around David Lee. But GSW isn't interested in STAT; for now.

Whatever happens with Amar'e, I hope it's for the better of the team. It's either he and Chandler get the best out of the summer training camp with Hakeem, learning post moves. Or STAT gets traded for some key pieces... Hopefully, whatever happens, it is for the better of the team.

    -----------

Lamar Odom is also reportedly eager to sign with the Knicks should he be waived by Dallas.

Odom looks like a good fit for the Knicks, he was able to effectively compliment a similar notorious "volume-scorer" (a.k.a. ball-hog) in Kobe before, so I think he could coexist with Melo better than Amare did.

Trading Amare would be very difficult, but if the GM can pull off something for some key additions than that be a bonus.

Pero balita ko di pa sigurado magre-sign si Lin sa Knicks, so better make sure you re-sign him first before anything else.

Poor Amare, from being a hero to being a liability... They need a new coach that will revive the offensive game of STAT.

trading amare would be even harder now. with the new cba in place and with fiscal tightening all over in the nba, amare's contract is a nuke.

for now, trying to tailor his game to fit the knicks is a cheaper and rather easier choice rather than trying to trade him. besides, there's not going to be a lot of interest for amare after what he did to the poor fire extinguisher.

There's bound to be a desperate team out there... Amar'e CAN still revive his career. He's not washed up. He had a rough season. All I'm saying is that I'm at the point where I'm okay with him being traded. If it is what's best for the team.

For what it's worth this is Melo's team now. I just hate the fact that Woodson is our coach. We need a better coach.

LIN won't go anywhere. He has no CHOICE. The ball is in New York's court. We have his rights... the most anyone can offer him is $5m/yr. Knicks can match it. The only way he's not a KNICK next season is if we trade him for a Deron Williams or the Knicks decides to use the money on someone else (e.g. Steve Nash).

I fairness to Amare, I think the most effective I've seen him was when Melo was out and he was playing sweet music with the then new-phenom Lin. Amare's game has always been tailor-fitted on pick & rolls, drive & dishes with PGs like Nash (before) and Lin (now), so maganda ang chemistry nila ni Lin, yun lang talaga Lin went down with his injury tapos bumalik pa si Melo. The key is having Melo get involved being the primary option in the offense while the Lin-Amare (and even Novak) combo is still maintained. Easier said than done, and that's an issue the coach have to address. Hindi manpower ang problem ng Knicks kundi chemistry issues, and with a full season to be played next year, barring any injuries, maybe they might just find their comfort level with each other and be more successful next season.

Linsanity will be exposed as a fraud next season.

I think they should've interviewed McMillan or Sloan first before they committed to Woodson.

Or even Phil Jackson who was supposedly interested in coaching the Knicks.

any solid FA next season that can help the team?

    ^ Lamar Odom??

  13. #13
^aside from Odom who else? kinda feel they need someone who can play big inside. Odom is not that time of player.

not just long shot but close to impossible. I don't think they need Phil Jackson to be their coach. probably Nate McMillan is already a good coach for them (no offense to Woodson)
