surprised with a very short list of candidates.

if we follow the cycle of hosting the Summer Olympics. Tokyo Japan has the inside track to get the hosting rights because it will be only 8 years since Europe last hosted the Olympics. Tokyo first hosted the Games in 1964.

Turkey could be an intriguing pick since this will be their first time to host and if they win, will become the first Muslim nation to host the Games. but security will be a major turn-off.

Madrid will be hard-pressed to get the hosting rights since Span last hosted the Games in 1992 when it was held in Barcelona. kunsabagay, USA hosted the games 12 years apart (1984 LA and 1996 Atlanta)

    on a footnote:
Doha again lost their Olympic bid for the second consecutive time. Hrap kasi ang schedule nila e.

LA was the sole bidder for 1984. Istanbul will be a games in 2 continents, that's going to be a major selling point. Tokyo maybe hampered by PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. Can't use the Athens 04-Torino 06 argument there as all bids for the 2006 Winter Olympics came from Europe. From a geo-political standpoint Istanbul has the inside track to win, especially now that they'll be withdrawing soon from their Euro 2020 bid. The Turkish government has been backing the Olympics bid over the Euro bid. Also, Turkey is a secular state.

    Gaganda ng mga logo...

Makes me wonder. The Olympics logos are always great but the mascots are always s----y. What do they do, give the mascot designs to the summer interns?

Among Southeast Asian countries, Thailand or singapore ang may kakayanan mangarap maghost, or at least mag-lodge ng bid to hold the summer olympics. Its about time the 'brown race' up their culture one notch higher. Maganda naman ang culture ng mga thais and they have this awesome shrines all over that can make other cultures take a second look w awe and amazement. And their cuisine is superb, alongside the thai chicks. Why not.

HAHAHAHAHA

    Nasesense ko Turkey yan.

    Tagal pa ng announcement.

I can't see Madrid (so close to London) take it.

If the US only had a bid I think NYC, Chicago, Dallas would be real threat.

    Here's what I say:
If the IOC wants to feel Adventurous - Istanbul will win
If the IOC wants to play it safe - Tokyo

I really wanted Kin Jong Un to bid for the 2020 for Pyongyang. Picture this:
2018 Winter Games - Peyongchang, South Korea
2020 Summer Games - Pyongyang, North Korea

I bet you that Pyongyang will use all their resources to one up Peyongchang if this ever happens. Also for some reason I can imagine North Korea pulling it off.

feeling ko not in our lifetime, siguro pwede pa tayo mag bid sa YOUTH OLYMPICS kasi kaunti lang naman ang requirement na IOC

"The scale of the Youth Olympic Games is smaller than that of the Olympics, which is intentional and allows for smaller cities to host an Olympic event. Potential host cities are required to keep all events within the same city and no new sports venues should be built.Exceptions to this building moratorium include a media center, amphitheater facilities for classes and workshops, and a village for coaches and athletes. This village is to be the heart of the Games for the athletes, and the hub of activity. No new or unique transportation systems are required as all athletes and coaches will be transported by shuttles.According to bid procedures, the track and field stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies must hold 10,000 people, and a city must have a 2,500-seat aquatics facility (for Summer editions)"
