Valiente' extended, casts Lorna Tolentino in special role

Lorna Tolentino makes sure the confrontation scenes she does are according to direction and script
MANILA, Philippines — TV5 has cited high ratings and good feedback from viewers as reasons for extending “Valiente” for four more weeks and as the story climaxes, veteran actress Lorna Tolentino enters the picture in a special role.

Tolentino, who faced Bulletin Entertainment and other members of media at a press conference held May 22, said she will play the character Mila Regalado Arden, the sophisticated but cold-hearted COO and Acquisitions Director of Crimson Estates and the younger sister of Don Luis Regalado (Tirso Cruz III).

In one of the trailers of the next episodes, Mila has a confrontation scene with one of the characters, prompting some writers to wonder out loud if the “slap” was for real or faked. Recall that a few years ago, a co-actor in another soap got carried away and hit Tolentino hard in one of their scenes where she sustained scratches on the face and a bruised lip.

“Totoo yung sa ‘Valiente’ kasi ang hinahabol ng director ay yung timing ng tama ng sampal sa paling ng ulo. Pinagusapan naman namin ng maayos yung execution nung eksena kaya naging maayos ang lahat,” Tolentino said, smiling.

Asked if she has really sworn off doing such scenes, Tolentino admitted that she’d opt for “daya” if she can. However, if it can’t be avoided, then she’ll just see to it that the directions given to the actors are clear and are according to the script.

Note that the kind of role that Tolentino will essay on “Valiente” is nothing new to her. In another TV5 soap, “Glamorosa,” she also engages in several face offs with co-actor Alice Dixon.

A press release from TV5, makes Tolentino’s role on “Valiente” seem worth the wait.

“What could possibly be her [Mila Regalado Arden] role in the lives of the two families, Braganza and Valiente? Will she be Gardo’s ally or another foe?” the blurb read.

It is said that Mila will also be coming back from America in search of her child whom she gave up for adoption.

“Valiente” also stars JC De Vera, Jaclyn Jose, Nina Jose, Oyo Sotto and Nadine Samonte. It airs weeknights on TV5 after “Wil Time BigTime.”

Tolentino’s next project for TV5 is based on folklore tentatively titled “Third Eye.”

PIK: Nagsimula nang mag-taping si Lorna Tolentino ng bagong programa nito sa TV 5 na Third Eye.

Hindi pa niya masasabi kung daily dahil tinitingnan nila kung kakayanin ng pang-araw-araw na primetime o weekly lang.

Pero gusto ni Lorna dahil hindi naman drama ito. Bago naman itong gagawin niyang may suspense-horror, kaya kakaibang challenge sa kanya.

PIK: Finally, natapos na rin ang taping ni Lorna Tolentino para sa guesting niya sa Valiente, pero naloka siya dahil ang bibigat daw ng mga eksena niya na parang isang buong drama series din ang natapos niya.

Pagkatapos nga niyang gawin ang mga eksena sa Valiente, parang ayaw daw muna niyang mag-drama.

Mabuti at horror-suspense ang susunod niyang gagawin sa TV5. Ito ‘yung Third Eye na sinimulan na rin niya nung nakaraang linggo. Pero hindi pa raw sure kung daily ito o weekly, pero okay na raw sa kanya iyun kesa sa mga mabibigat na dramahan katulad nang ginawa niya sa Valiente.

SOBRANG nahihirapan daw si Lorna Tolentino sa kanyang role sa Valiente. Siya ang bagong nadagdag sa cast ng nabanggit na primetime series ng TV5. Ginagampanan niya ang role ng nawala at nagbabalik na kapatid ni Tirso Cruz III at ina ni Nadine Samonte.
Naloka nga si Lorna kasi nang ipadala raw sa kanya ang script, biglang in just a couple of days ay taping na raw kaagad. Mahihirap daw ang kanyang mga eksena na karamihan ay may monologue siya.
“Nakurta ang utak ko!” natatawang kuwento pa ni Lorna nang pasyalan namin sa kanilang taping sa isang rancho sa Lipa City kamakailan. “Nanginginig ako habang nagti-taping kami. Kasi, sunud-sunod ‘yong mga monologue ko. First time ko na parang pinarusahan ako. Hahaha! Kasi ‘yong role ko na pang-two months, kinumpres at ginawang pang-two weeks.”
Ngiti ang unang naging reaksiyon naman ng aktres nang kumustahin ang status ng kanyang lovelife.
“Wala,” napapakibit-balikat niyang sabi. “May mga apo na ako. Happy na ako na sa mga anak ko ako naka-focus. At saka sa farm namin.”
May mga nanligaw raw sa kanya dati pero talagang sa pakiramdam daw niya, ayaw na niyang muling magmahal pa o mag-asawa ulit. “Wala na akong interes. Parang nasa isip ko… alagaan ko na lang ang sarili ko. Ituon ko na lang ang pansin ko sa aking mga anak at apo.”
Parehong stable na raw naman ang katayuan ng dalawa niyang anak at isa umano ito sa dahilan kung bakit kampante siya at masaya sa ngayon. Wala raw siyang nakikitang anumang kulang sa buhay niya. “Si Rafael (ang kanyang panganay), magdidirek na ng isang morning show sa ABS-CBN. Si Renz (her second son) is working with Senator Lito Lapid.
“Meron ngang soap na ginagawa sina Renz at Senator Lito ngayon. ‘Yong Little Champ kasama nila ang ilang childstars ng ABS. Pero since naging busy ang mga senador sa katatapos na impeachment trial (kay Chief Justice Renato Corona), sa isang buwan ay twice ot three times lang silang makapag-taping.
Happy rin daw si LT sa kanilang 4.6 hectares na farm sa gen Aguinaldo sa Cavite. Korporasyon raw nila ito ng kaibigan niyang si Teri at ng asawa nito na siyang katulong niya sa pag-aasikaso rito. “Si Teri ang in charge sa farming. ‘Yong asawa niya naman niya sa poultry. Wala kaming problema sa takbo ng poultry. May 35 thousand chicken kami.”
“’Yong sa farming ang medyo kailangan talagang araling mabuti. So far, we have around 30 thousand na naitanim na pineapple. Nakakatuwa kasi three times a year iyon kung mamunga. May dragon fruit na rin kami. Meron na kaming 140 na poste for that. Kasi ipinuposte iyon, e. Tapos meron din kaming mga tanim na talong, kamatis, bell pepper, may Indian mango rin.
“Maganda rin na may iba akong pinagkakaabalahan gaya nga nitong farm namin. At least may chance ako na makapag-isip-isip. Para hindi ako nagmamadali na magkatrabaho kaagad. Kumbaga, may fall back ako.”
Happy naman daw si LT sa pagiging Kapatid star. Bukod sa Valiente, may isa pa siyang bagong weekly TV program. Ito ay ang Third Eye, na horror ang tema. “Columnist ang role ko. Tungkol sa mga kababalaghan ang aking isinusulat. So… involve ako sa bawat episode ng show. Nakapagtaping na kami ng pilot episode. Every Saturday ng gabi ang airing nito. Pero wala pang final kung kailan magsisimulang mapanood.”
