Hollywood heartthrob and star of American TV series The Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder is now in Manila, much to the delight of screaming fans.
When Team PEx got invited to Ian Somerhalder’s press conference (big, big thanks to Penshoppe), we immediately spat the coffee we were collectively drinking and said yes in a nanosecond. Needless to say, we were excited to see Ian in the country as a welcome addition to Penshoppe’s growing line-up of international endorsers, among them Mario Maurer, Zac Efron, and Ed Westwick (collectively known as the Penshoppe All-Stars). With such a line-up of endorsers, Penshoppe is already turning into a global brand.
The event started with a speech by Bernie Liu, president of Golden ABC (the company behind Penshoppe, Regatta, Memo, Tyler, Oxygen and Forme), explaining how the company has tied up with worthy causes with partner foundations and the partnership with the actor. He said working with Ian was an absolute pleasure. “(Ian) is very intelligent, results-oriented, and extremely passionate in taking care of the environment” says Bernie. Bernie was also pleased to announce that Golden ABC, through Penshoppe, will be supporting the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, furthering the cause of the actor’s foundation. Mr. Liu says it is the company’s mission to do its part in saving the Earth.
And then came what everyone was waiting for, Ian Somerhalder himself. Host Paolo Bediones introduced the man of the hour himself and asked him a few questions regarding his trip to the country. The room was filled with screaming girls, screaming “I love you Ian!” which was then followed by an “I love you back!” from Somerhalder himself. What a guy!
Ian Somerhalder was mesmerizing, to say the least. Besides being ridiculously good-looking, the man was also intelligent and inspiring. Ian is an environmental steward. He has done so many for environmental and animal causes through his foundation. He was really impressed with how the Philippines is leading the charge in protecting the environment.
“What the Philippines is doing, big corporations are taking massive strides in protecting and conserving everything. On a corporate level, no one does that and no one knows you’re doing that. That’s what we need to change. Filipinos are actually leading this charge to a greener future and people should know that” says Ian. He then cited some examples of how our country is doing its part, like his plane trip to Palawan. He said that the aircraft by ITI had a note on the seat regarding the plane’s carbon emission, saying that to offset the aircraft’s carbon footprint, the company will plant 6 trees for every passenger on board. This really impressed Somerhalder and cited more examples.
When asked what will he tell his friends back home about the Philippines and Penshoppe, he says that he was truly blown away and humbled by the generosity and beauty of our country, and how progressive we are as people. He said that people should see how we make the world a better place, and that he’s excited to work with Penshoppe and Golden ABC for the sake of the environment and that people should know how we’re leading the movement.
There you have it. Good-looking, intelligent, charming, and an all-around good guy, we think that Ian Somerhalder was put in this world to make all other guys look bad. We kid, but seriously, Ian Somerhalder is awesome. Brains, looks, and a heart of gold. Besides ripping people’s heads off and seducing women on TV, he’s also one of the nicest dudes you’ll ever meet. We look forward to him as the new Penshoppe endorser and as an environmental steward, not to mention charm his way into our hearts.
