    Why not FUTSAL?

isn't FUTSAL a great sport or tool to teach young filipinos how to play soccer?

    from my layman observation:

    1) it's cheaper to play. 5 players per team only (including goalkeeper).
    2) it's played indoors. good, kasi mainit sa pinas. magkasya ito sa isang basketball gym.

    what do you think?

Non-traditional football countries like Japan, Taiwan and the US started their program with indoor soccer. There's a potential na pwede itong simulan sa atin dahil sa dami ng ating basketball courts.

Problem is, masyado pang ingrained sa ilan outside the football-crazy Ilonggo communities na basketball lang ang dapat palaruin. Medyo mahirap ito gawin pero posible.

Let the kids play under the sun hindi yung binibaby. Sa Saudi nga mga bata naglalaro ng football sa desert 42-45 degree C.

    here's the key:
    http://die-hard-soccer.webs.com/futsal.htm

THE BALL: Unlike some myths, a Futsal ball is neither funny nor fuzzy. It is, however, different. The Futsal ball, also known as a reduced bound or low-bounce ball, is smaller than a normal outdoor soccer ball and heavier. There is a FIFA specification for the ball's size, weight and bounce.

These properties are designed to build confidence and develop skill & technique.
When a Futsal ball is received, it virtually 'sticks' to the foot. This builds great confidence in tight spaces when rapid passes are being issued repeatedly. Interestingly, that same property which makes the ball easy to receive makes it more difficult to strike. A Futsal ball gradually eliminates the 'lazy pass'. It is heavier and players rapidly get acquainted with the merits of bending the knee, turning the hips, and striking the ball firmly to propel it. Repeated touches on the ball eventually produce a motion which, when transplanted outdoors with a high bounce ball, translates into a firmer and longer pass appropriate for the big field.

Many programs around the world also claim that smaller size encourages more precise striking of the 'sweet spot' of the ball. If one works during the offseason on striking a Futsal ball, then a larger bouncier ball is struck with greater confidence and authority in the outdoor game.

WHY IT'S BETTER THAN OTHER INDOOR GAMES: FIFA says Futsal is better. And the Brazilians are among the many nations that swear by it. Pele, Ronaldo, Zico, Socrates and Bebeto all credit futsal for much of their skill and technique development. All the major heads of US Soccer and FIFA declared that this is the way to go. Once you experience futsal, you will see the reasons.

Ang masaya pa sa futsal, bawal ang sliding tackle. Unlimited substitutions pa kaya basketball na basketball.

At pwede lang mag-backpass sa keeper kapag naitawid na sa halfway line kaya walang nakakapag-park ng bus.

okay lang ang futsal pero i think dapat sila mag build ng own gym for futsal kasi yung mga basketball fan tingin ko kukontra sila kapag may kahati na sila sa court. marami basketball players na haters sa football. players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho honed their skills by playing futsal when they were still young

I think every elementary and high school in the philippines should be mandated to have a futsal team para ma-accelerate ang knowledge nila sa Soccer.
