Jessica is already an international star.



For our second “American Idol” notes of the day Friday, we are focusing primarily on the winner and runner-up of season 11 — and to go along with that, we have some exciting news for those of you who want to see Ryan Seacrest continue in his quest to take over the world. (Now if we could just find him an evil cat for him to pet while he plots his future conquests.)

Jessica promotes Philippine tourism – In case you haven’t heard yet (and that is pretty unlikely at this point), Jessica Sanchez is rather popular in the Philippines. She is half-Filipino (although she was born and raised here in America), and across the world she is already considered to be an international superstar despite not even releasing an album just yet.

Just in case you want even more evidence of her mass popularity in the country, tourism officials have even used an image of her to help promote travel to the country. We can only imagine just how intense her performance is going to be in the country on September 21 — which is when the show’s live tour will be making its only stop outside of North American in Manila. (As for other international destinations, they will be heading to Toronto for a performance.)

‘American Idol,’ ‘X Factor’ notes: Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Sanchez, One Direction

Who did Jessica end up meeting?




With everyone being in the middle of a rather quiet period for “American Idol,” we are including both it and a little bit of “The X Factor” (at least the British version) in our Thursday morning edition of the “notes.”

Jessica Sanchez meets Lil Wayne – It’s interesting just how many famous people the recent star has managed to meet just within the past few weeks. She has sang with Jennifer Holliday, performed in Washington DC along with a Manny Pacquiao match, and also said hello to none other than Lil Wayne.

In a new post on her Twitter account this week, Jessica revealed that she met the Grammy-winning rapper while in Oklahoma City performing at Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The irony here? It was only a matter of weeks ago that Lil Wayne was denied entry into a Thunder game over not having a ticket to get in. (Apparently, someone has fixed this situation now.)

With this gig over, Jessica is now going to focus a little bit more on preparing for the show’s summer tour next month — which will even include an international stop in the Philippines.

Kelly Clarkson talks giving One Direction a song – There is a song on One Direction’s album “Up All Night” entitled “Tell Me a Lie,” and it has a certain “American Idol” connection courtesy of the original winner Kelly Clarkson serving as a writer for the song.

So why did she decide to give it up to the “X Factor” sensation? In a new blog on the Daily Star, much of her reasoning behind giving the boys

“I’m very particular about that because my songs are like my babies. If I wanted it done I can sing it myself. I’m such a writer’s snob. People have asked for songs and I’m like: ‘I can’t stand their voice, they’re not singing my song.’

“When Simon Cowell put me forward to write for One Direction I said: ‘Let me hear them first.’ Simon has been really supportive since I won ‘American Idol.’ ‘Tell Me A Lie’ is the cut I’ve got on 1D’s album as I like the story of them, how they came together as a group.”

Considering that One Direction’s debut just so happens to be an international sensations, it definitely looks like Kelly made the right decision.–

Jessica Sanchez meets Lil Wayne at NBA Finals game; tweets out photo for fans




Jessica Sanchez probably comes in contact with dozens of celebrities, but it is the odd star pairings that attract everyone’s attention. On Tuesday night the runner up of American Idol performed the national anthem for the NBA Finals game one and the next morning she posted a photo of her with a celebrity courtside on her Twitter account. Jessica Sanchez was standing to the one and only Lil Wayne.

“Ayyy. Met him at the game last night,” tweeted Jessica Sanchez from her official Twitter account on Wednesday. The artist also put out the link to the photo for everyone to see.

The two artists were side-by-side and were all smiles for the photo. With Lil Wayne having one arm over Jessica Sanchez’s shoulder, it appeared like they were best friends for the moment. Of course Weezy had his signature orange headphones around his neck, but he was seen all evening watching the game with the pair of headphones on.


Jessica Sanchez won’t be singing again for the NBA Finals game two. The young reality show singer is needed back at rehearsals for the final preparations of the American Idol Tour that is expected to hit the road soon. With Phillip Phillips on the mend and Jessica Sanchez readying for her parts, it appears the top 10 will be hitting the road real soon.

Today many American Idol fans were thrilled to see Jessica Sanchez perform the National Anthem at game one of the NBA Finals, Heat vs. Thunder. Jessica sang loud, clear and without any musical accompaniment.

Fans were cheering as Sanchez hit the highest note and held it for what seemed an eternity. Some fans held their breath for Jessica, willing her to sing perfectly. Sanchez did prove once again why she is an American favorite. The 16 year old looked adorable and wore her trademark high heel shoes.

Fans online compared Jessica's National Anthem performance today, with the performance she did yesterday at the Pacquiao–Bradley fight held in Nevada. Some fans commented that they preferred Jessica's slowed down version, which allowed room for audience response. Jessica has also recently sung the National Anthem on Memorial Day.

Whatever you think, this little dynamo, Jessica Sanchez, has captured America's heart and America's love affair with Jessica Sanchez does not seem ready to fade any time soon.
