Jessica Sanchez: ‘I Want to Be a Role Model for Kids’ — INTERVIEW

American Idol‘s Jessica Sanchez recently interviewed with the UT San Diego News to talk about the summer tour, FOX’s hit TV show, and her debut album. Tonight, she’ll take the stage at the Valley View Casino Center for the first time.

“I’m ecstatic. I cannot wait!” she gushed. “The set list for each show (on the tour) is pretty much the same, but I’ll try to make it as special as I can in San Diego.”

Despite rising to fame this year, Jessica will still have her senior year of homeschooling to begin this fall. “Four hours a day, online,” she commented. From her stint on Idol, she scored a talent agency deal with CAA and a record label deal with Interscope Records — headed by Jimmy Iovine. He debut album is set to be released in November.

“I want to be a role model for kids and show them that I’m not a goody-goody-two-shoes girl, but that I’m not a bad girl, either,” Jessica said recently while on tour in Salt Lake City. “I’m just a regular girl following her dreams, and I’m not going to let anybody change me.”

She went on to talk about her debut album in length:

“It’s my first album, and I believe that, if it comes out and is going to be my album, it should be 100 percent me. I don’t think it should be changed by a producer, and I don’t think my vision will be (diluted). We’re still picking out songs.
My album will have more of an urban R&B feel. A dance-music element is one key thing I need to have on my album; I don’t want it to be boring (slow) songs. ‘Idol’ was a competition, and that led me to do more ballads instead of songs that have more feel and soul. I want it to be perfect.”

MANILA, Philippines – Local clothing brand Bench has announced that “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez is the newest addition to its long list of celebrity endorsers to promote its products.

In its official Twitter and Facebook accounts on Saturday, Bench said it is proud to welcome Sanchez as part of the family.

"Let's all welcome the fashionable @JSanchezAI11 to the ever-growing @benchtm family! #JessicaSanchez4Bench," said Bench.

“We are thrilled to welcome the voice that has won the hearts of many. Truly proud to have @JSanchezAI11 part of the #Benchsetter family,” Bench added.

Sanchez is not the first "Idol" graduate to be part of Bench.

Prior to the 16-year old Filipino-Mexican-American, Bench also clinched a deal with “American Idol” Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta to be among their endorsers.

Archuleta's Bench billboards and posters can now be seen in different Bench stores nationwide.

Filipino-American "Idol" Season 3 contestant Jasmine Trias also did commercials for Bench after she placed third in the popular reality talent search.

There's a lot of people that would pick on me in middle school and say really really nasty things about me, but you just have to ignore them and do you. I mean I can't say that it's easy. Of course, it hurts a lot. But I mean, you just have to think of it like in a couple of years from now, you're not going to see that person and you know it's either going for your dreams or worrying about what somebody think. And going for your dreams is one thing you should be doing no matter what."

(Signed CD album, malaking poster ni inday, American idol aparrels & tumblers c/o ETC) lalong lalo na yung 5 Meet & Greet passes!!! sheyt lungs talaga pag hindi ka nga naman sinuwerte swerte oh! yung katabi ko lang yung 1 sa 5 nanalo. # 34 yung raffle no. niya while ako naman # 24. sayang talaga!!! lapit na e. pagkakataon na kase yun. mostly ng mga nanalo official members ng Bujay phils sa FB. pero enjoy naman infairness. ang saya ng Q&A portion ni Jessica! actually, hindi siya teary-eyed dyan e. na-overwhelmed lang si inday. hindi niya siguro expected na ganun na lang yung pinakitang suporta sa kanya at tsaka yung pag greet sa kanya for her upcoming birthday (Aug 4.) na-suprised siguro siya na may hinanda na para sa kanya na ganun. hehehe.
