Basically, I just wanna know if I have a chance in landing a job at a great company when I'm fresh out of college despite some setbacks in my undergrad (read: failures in some subjects) or do a lot of these companies place grades over most factors when hiring somebody?

So sa mga Eng'g dyan, particularly na sa mga graduates na nakabagsak din at least once or twice sa undergrad:

What subjects did you fail? How did you redeem yourself? And how was your experience come job-hunting time? Did the employers ask for your TCG, ask you why you had such fails? Also, how did you get the job despite previous failures, were your grades a MAJOR factor when landing a job (particularly sa mga big-time companies like Unilever, Emerson etc. for example), did the failures affect your salary, etc. Tsaka... kamusta naman kayo ngayon? :P

Made a new thread while waiting for the admins to read my concern and delete my old thread which was messed up by time and date errors. Salamat ulit kay galing up sa tulong sa previous thread ko--kailangan ko pa nga lang ng ibang input-- so I made a new (and more straight-to-the-point) thread

No need to be grade-conscious.

Aw. Sorry to hear that, Ayamiharu. Sayang. Haha. Anong Eng'g ka ba that time?

oo naman! of course hindi ka magsisimula sa mataas than usual, but you'll still be offered better than many other univ grads.

ako i'm an engg grad, and may dalawa akong na-singko na major subject, isang forced drop na major, i also dropped ES12 (pero bumawi ng 1.5 sa second take ) and nadelay pa ako ng isang taon dahil sa thesis. but it didn't matter, after all, sa simula mas mataas lang siguro offer sa mga classmates mo na mas ok ang grades. pero after a year or two, the grades won't matter na, what matters is the experience gained na sa work.

hey, thanks for the reply ayaraine! waaa... hindi ako kasi nakaexperience ng fail nung highschool at medyo grade-conscious ako so nung nangyari yung pagbagsak ko, inisip ko na end of the world na for me. haha..

anyways, napag-usapan ba ninyo ng potential employer mo yung mga bagsak mo come interview time? if so, pa-share naman ng dialogue nyo... haha...

^Bump up. Guys, pa-share naman ng mga stories of redemption nyo for being employed kahit may failing grades

waaaa... medyo nakaka-demoralize naman 'to. xD well, so far-- nabawi ko pa naman mga bagsak ko when I took the course again the second time around..

    Positive stories anyone? hahaha.

  18. #18
    Siguro naman may pag-asa pa!

di pa ako grad. 2 taon pa. sana grumad on time!

Yung iba kong batchmates and orgmates, nagka-singko pero ayun, nasa maganda, reputable, at well-established companies sila ngayon.

Hahaha.

Pero as much as possible, iwasan nang bumagsak ha.

    Of course naman ano ba
