UPM BS Public Health. Help po

    Good day!

    BS Public Health curriculum Manila
    http://www.upm.edu.ph/cph/programs/undergrad.html
    BS Biology curriculum LB
    http://ibs.uplb.edu.ph/index.php/bs-...y-course-guide

    Salamat po!

as far as i know.. *** iba ang course number as long same ang course/subj.. considered yon.. like course number ng upd vs uplb. magkaiba but if mag x-reg ka at pinasa mo, accredited yon. pwede kang kumuha nag subjs na para sa bs ph. kaso malamang nasa upm's discretion if i-count yon... if mga GE ***, ok *** ... if major, subj pa sa validation exam ng concerned college.. example, if taga UPLb ka, transfer ka sa upd.. say, chem subj. magbibigay ng exam ang upd chem faculty to validate your learning. if pasa mo.. higher/nxt kem.. if not , retake.
hope this helps u.. god bles...

Ah.

Masyado na po bang late kapag 3rd year pa ako lilipat or i should finish bs bio instead? I have doubts to continue med after grad and mas madami po job opportunities ang ph kesa sa bio.

Most likely oo. So baka yung ibang Bio subjects mo, di na macredit at medyo back to zero ka.

Ah. I'm torn about pursuing med after grad, or I will take the medtech board instead.

    I'll do better this year

English subjects, as in mga GE na AH?

hi I've checked the subjects in your program and as for your 1st year subjects, sure akong maki-credit yung Math11 & 14 (equivalent lang kasi un ng Math17) For your English subjects, if you've taken CommI/II OR KomunikasyonI/II, for sure credited din yun. Sa Chem naman I think equivalent lang ng Chem16 ang Chem14 at ang Chem17=Chem18. Sa Chem lab subjects, you can just take chem 14.1 & 18.1 sa UPM. As for the NSTP you'll be also required to take NSTP classes sa PH, I've learned this from my classmates na shiftees.

For your 2nd year subjects naman, mukhang maki-credit din ang Chem40 & Chem 160 but you still need to take Chem30.1 kasi mukhang wala din kayong lab for Org Chem. I'm not sure about your physics and zoology subjects though. If you intend to shift to PH, I advise you to take many GE subjects dyan sa LB, para konti na lang kunin mo sa UPM. Sa PH kasi, 15 units each ang required for AH Cluster(Comm1, 2 & 3, HumI/II etc), SSP Cluster ( Histo 1,2,5, Soc Sci, etc) & MST cluster (Nat Sci1, 2, etc *should be taken din dito ang Math1 & STS*)

Medyo late na nga kung sa 3rd yr ka magsi-shift kasi magiging 2nd year standing ka pa din pero kung gusto mo talagang mag-PH, go lang konting tips lang, on your 1st year sa UPM, sabayan mo yung subjects na kinukuha ng 2nd yr BSPH students for ex: Chem 27/27.1, Zoo10 & Physics21 on 1stSEM. For your chem lab subjects pwede mong i-take ang chem 14.1 on 1st sem and chem 18.1 & chem 30.1 on 2nd sem.

I have doubts to continue med after grad and mas madami po job opportunities ang ph kesa sa bio.
I'm not sure kung mas madami ngang job opportunities sa PH pero tama yung ibang replies na pwede kang mag-take ng MedTech boards as a PH grad. Pwede ka ring mag-work as research assistant kung ayaw mong magmed-tech

Ah. Is MedTech here in the Philippines good? Kasi I'm thinking na medyo in line pa rin po sa medicine kapag nag-take po ako ng board, unlike Bio na researcher po talaga. I'm torn between the two, with factors like money, job opportunities and interest. I'm just being practical and money is a big deal in this world. Bio or PH? Salamat po ulit!

oops sorry, I thought wala kayong chem lab subjects, prereq kasi yun for your majors sa 3rd year. for your NSTP naman, inquire mo pa din kung pwede na nilang i-credit *** NSTP mo.

madaming job openings for med techs ngayon, I've heard na medyo mababa daw ang salary but if you can work sa big hospitals like PGH, medyo ok. If you want to work abroad naman, sa Middle East countries ang madaming opening ngayon. Actually I also want to work as medtech, I already took the medtech boards but ever since di ko pa nagamit license ko. hesitant akong magmed-tech kasi wala pa akong masyadong training.

I hope you can make a good decision, good luck

Salamat po ng marami! Hope you don't mind, but I just want to ask what is your job now? I am really torn about the two, about the salary, which is better? Salamat po ulit sa advice!

you're welcome. I hope na-enlighten kita ng konti about PH. I'm sorry but I want to keep my work confidential, konti lang kasi kami sa college so baka ma-trace ako dito, haha. Anyways, about sa salary of medtechs, it depends on your position, experience and trainings, pati sa type ng hospital or clinic. I agree with you that we have to be practical these days pero piliin mo pa rin yung course na talagang gusto mo, baka kasi magsisi ka sa huli kung di ka satisfied sa career na napili mo. Pero kung gusto mo talagang mag-medtech o maging involved sa health research, enroll ka na sa PH May cut off grade din sa CPH (di ko lang sure kung anong GWA), but you have a big chance of acceptance there, konti lang kasi kami, sa batch ko nga, around 10 ang shiftees. O sige, good luck with your career quest, just follow your heart and pray for guidance

Thank you so much po. I weighed the pros and cons of both courses and it ended up on what I want to do and what is my liking, as you advised .

And still, unfortunately undecided pa din . Question po ulit.

Graduating BS Bio here.

Thank you.

The UP system will consider ALL your subjects except PE, NSTP and other non-academic subjects you took.

Oooh, okay. Thank you! Anyway, do you have any idea what GWA is needed to be able to get in? The site says 2.50, but well they don't accept too many shiftees, right?
