    Apple to Samsung: Copycat!

    May 8, 2012

According to patent expert Florian Müeller, writing for his own blog FOSS Patents, the iPhone
maker in court documents underscored “massive sales” of Samsung’s “copycat products”:

While the parties have been readying the case for trial Samsung has vaulted
into first place in worldwide sales of smartphones, with massive sales of its
    copycat products
. Samsung’s infringement of Apple’s intellectual property has
already resulted in damages that reach billions of dollars. [...] It is critical to
Apple to start trial on July 30, to put an end to Samsung’s continuing infringement.

Samsung says alters tablet design to avoid German sales ban
    Nov 17, 2011

Samsung Electronics said on Thursday that it would launch a redesigned version of its 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab model in Germany as early as this week to avoid a sales ban on the tablet, which a German court said violated Apple's patents.

"We modified the model to reflect Apple's claims," the spokesman said.

    permanent ban because of copying

Apple wins permanent ban on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany
    September 9, 2011

The ruling from a court in Dusseldorf upholds a previous, temporary decision to bar sales of Samsung's 10-inch tablet, which competes with the iPad 2. In Friday's decision, the court said outright that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks too much like Apple's iPad 2, according to Bloomberg.

    Wholesale Copying

Everything from the phone's exterior to its user interface seem lifted directly from the design book of Steve Jobs himself. In the case of Samsung, imitation was indeed the most sincere form of flattery. On April 15, 2011, Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the South Korean company of wholesale copying features of the iPhone for use in many of its own products. Much of the complaint focuses on the Samsung's Galaxy S, which Apple showcased in its court filing as the most egregious example of Samsung's imitation.

"Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style
for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology,
user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,"
    Apple said in the lawsuit.

Sure Google just said it would acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion while InterDigital, which holds a fair number of mobile patents, is now the belle of the ball, but judging by the sheer number of patents granted, there are plenty of players that have the arsenals of IP in order to keep their hand in. Stand aside developers, it’s the lawyers’ turn to fight for mobile supremacy.

    Samsung - Biggest Copycat!

Apple accusing Samsung of being mobile's biggest copy cat and Samsung fighting back on technology, and standards, grounds -- they remain massive manufacturing partners.

For their part, Samsung has denied allegations that they're a copy cat, despite the uncanny similarities to Apple products that keep popping up.

Lahat naman ng industry may gayahan, I worked in different technological companies (both in an Asian and Western companies). At nakita ko dun ginagaya ang iba ibang brands (Hardware at Software), trying to check ano ang weakness at strengths nila.

Pagalingan lang gumaya yan, so wag bitter, kaya nga may term na competition. And it's beneficial sa both parties para galingan pa nila ang mga gawa nila at galingan pa nila ang security nila.

Pero ako, kung tatanungin niyo ako, I prefer Samsung over Iphone. I dont care kung sino nangagaya sa kanila, as long as ok ang phone na nabili ko.

exactly! at hindi lang sa technology normal yan, kahit sa ibang industry ginagawa yan.

ang problema kasi Apple doesn't like competition. Ang gusto nila nag-iisa lang sila sa mundo. Samsung ang tinitira nila kasi among the Android OEM's, Samsung ang may kakayahan na dumikit/lumagpas sa kanila in terms of sales.

That's why Samsung is being lambasted for ripping off.

Take a look at Nokia. Their post-iPhone Symbian phones and Lumia phones are clearly in response to Apple, pero when it comes to similarities in software, distinguishable ang isa sa iba.
