Lightbulb Guide on Publishing a High School Yearbook

Good afternoon PExers! How's your summer?

I want to open up this thread in order to help High School students (the Yearbook Committee/Staff) in publishing their batch yearbook. In my case, we weren't given much info on how to come up with our yearboo; hence, we encountered a lot of problems that resulted to an almost 2 years of delay.

To avoid this case to happen again, we will use this thread to help each other out.

    In this thread, we will:
    • Share tips and guides on how to come up with a (timely) yearbook.
    • Discuss how to avoid problems that can delay the yerabook.
    • Share highly relevant blogs and posts regarding publishing a yearbook.
    • Share experience being part of the yearbook staff.
    • Discuss what will be a good theme for the yearbook.
    • And yearbook ideas in general.

Let me share our yearbook cover page(I was the layout editor 4 years back):

Also, to start off, I want to share to you my own guide in Publishing a High School Yearbook. You may read it here: http://yougotme.hubpages.com/hub/Pub...chool-Yearbook

Hopefully, you'll find this very useful. Good luck with your yearbook! Don't forget to share here the finished product of your sweat and blood! (Yeah, in my case, even if I was a college frosh, I was still editing the layout and the pics for the yearbook. That's why I'm so proud of my work)

Haha! Silly me.

Anyway, if there will be anyone who will stumble upon this thread and has inquiries regarding the process of making a yearbook. Just drop a comment below, and I'll make sure, you'll get a response.

Ooh. I know. Let's shift a little bit from the topic.

And pose you with this question: How long did it take your HS yearbook to be published and distributed?

  5. #5
More than a decade has lapsed and I can't still see the shadow of our HS yearbook.

  6. #6
    Oh. Really? What happened?

Yung sa amin, we usually wait for 2-3 years, I thought matagal na *** ganun. Meron palang instances na di na nakukuha.

Did you pay already for the yearbook?

2 man team lang kayo? Bakit di kayo nagrerecruit?

    para mas mabilis ang proseso.

I become then the layout artists and editor of our college yearbook. mahirap talaga mag asikaso nito. tip ko lang tingin tingin din kayo ng ibang yearbook. ilista chronologically yung contents. bigyan niyo ng "theme" yung layout. layout, ttitle, foreword, and the valedictory address / messages, should interconnect each other.. yan ang mga dapat muna unang mga aalalahanin sa paggawa ng yearbook

  14. #14
    Wow! College yearbook - bigaten!

Yup! I think importante talaga ang theme. Kasi that will make the yearbook more interesting.

    Yearbook namin nung highschool:
May theme. Batch before us theme nila music playlist or something. Theme ng batch namin around the world.
Nandun lahat ng photos ng teachers, administrators, club members, and of course, students.
Yung president (or principal) and other officials ng school may message.
Tapos may personal info, batch picture, and other random stuff.

Medyo same lang actually yung set-up with our case. We usually set up a yearbook committee, and we call the volunteers (the ones who will write descriptions, etc of person) "contributors".

We also ask for sponsorship to fund the yearbook. So I guess, yung iba they can do it as well. At least makakatipid ng kaunting cost.

to make it sophisticated, relate it to the roots of your school (history of school, its milestones, and the like) or identify something's significant on your batch..

  18. #18
^That's a great idea! Yung madalas na ilagay usually are photos of the school facilities etc. That will be a great idea!

And yung "Something significant on the batch" will be able to make the yearbook more special.

  19. #19

  20. #20
Haha! (Ang slow ng reply ko)

Gaano katagal na yung sa inyo?
